I've heard the GMs are thinking introducing missions (endless missions I hope) for this game. Does anybody have any suggestions for them of what kind of missions we can do or could be and at the same time earn a few gold coins for doing them?

The missions can be such as...

Helping a federation member in times of war by destroying certain enemies defences.

Introducing a new Spy agency in order to carry out counter terrorist/terrorist attacks on the towns and cities. Of which.... the special forces can carry out either function since they are useless in battle anyway and are defintely more suited to being behind enemy lines.

Hiring mercenaries to carry out certain missions then maybe participate in war.

Hiring smugglers to steal another countries weapons or supplies, which will require a lot of fuel and trucks or even airplanes can be used for long distance ones.

Hiring lots of asassins and kipnappers to imbalance a countrys workforce.

Some of these will have a % chance of carrying out one of these missions successfully and earn a few gold coins but I hope you will all know where i'm heading with this.

These suggestions sound interesting to me.. a lot of opinions for daily activities and to screw with people.

Missions...

Resources have been talked about for a while now. I suggest an 'explore' mission. A unit or set of would be needed to explore sectors of the map to find some precious resource. Oil, coal, gold, silver, which ever seem most appropriate.

Once your explorers find this resource, the player owns the mining rights. These rights can be exploited by the player or sold to any player for gold coins.

The resource deposit would have a limited lifetime but calculated as long enough for the owner to at least double his investment, going by the market rate. Each country could have an initial deposit so their oil corps etc can survive until they find/buy additional deposits.

It would be crucial that the cost of finding the resource is not prohibitive, allowing newer less wealthy players a shot at them, and allowing any finder/buyer to see a reasonable profit for their efforts.

I can think of lots of little things to work out with this idea, like, who keeps the mining rights if the corp is bought/sold/IPOed. Same as would people fight for these rights. Some C3s might become more attractive over others because of deposits they hold, or would the deposit be unknown until the C3 is taken by a player or the deposit is found by an explorer unit. I'm sure it wouldnt be too hard to sort out.

So there's my idea No1. They dont all have to be war orientated, there are many who dont do war. Look for idea No2 coming soon to a forum near you.

Thanks for contributing to this Crafty of the non agression missions idea, and yes I believe your ideas will work into it nicely. Just keep them coming.

All this could maybe come under a new 'espionage' category rather than the 'army' one.

mining isn't even a profitable sector anymore crafty.... why would I bother exploring for coal and if anyone found a deposit in my country I should be able to nationalize it because its my land I would deport the explorer and give it to myself

The mining would be more profitable if the deposits were permanent and gave some sort of major profit boost to corporations of the type that were in the country of the deposit. This would also cause tensions and negotiations between players over rights, and even ownership. Also, CEOs could rent the rights to the deposits and benefit from this ownership but not permanently own it. The country would own it and this would add more political dynamics into the game.

My mines seem to do well, oil always has. And the point would be to control the resource, hence it could well become uber profitable.

You would have the right to deposits in your country of course, or you could sell those rights, didn't I say that? Or then some greedy lazy GC laden vet like me could come and take them from you unless you lost points and paid more GC for WP of course.

I think the idea of resource research has been bandied about before, by the developers as well, so it may well be on the list, integrating it into a mission would seem a logical step to me.
