Common Market -- Contracts for fractional resources

Topics: Suggestions: Common Market -- Contracts for fractional resources

Some companies use fractional resources for their monthly production, but there is no way to offer a common market contract for less than 1 of a resource per month. I would like to suggest that if there are going to be companies that use (or produce!) fractional units per month, that the minimum contract size of 1 be removed.

For example, I have a Military Base Maintenance Unit company that uses 0.20 Defense Fortifications per month, 0.03 Strategic Airports, and so on). I also have a Defense Fortifications company that has a base production of 0.30 per month (before productivity modifiers, which are beside the point). As it stands right now, there's no way for me to contract 0.20 Defense Fortifications worth of production for sale to my MBMU company.

I can set up a contract for 1 unit/month but that creates two problems -- I'm not meeting my contract about two months out of every three, and it's actually delivering much more than the buying company needs (0.30+ per month instead of the 0.20 it actually consumes).

This can be solved by just allowing non-integer inputs for contracts and removing the 1 unit minimum universally -- there's not really any harm in letting people set up contracts for 1200000.5 bushels of wheat (or whatever) vs 1200000 if they want to, but it's a big improvement in the ability to manage production and sale of items that come in extremely large units (such that they take multiple months to create).

this should be 1st priority imo

all corps that require fractional supplies require an enormous amount of babysitting

i understand that some products can be keept as prizes for active players but tbh i rather DONT have this "advantage"

if changing all purchase contract systems to use fractional transaction is to dangerous/labour intensive then

at least you can put a button next to the supply using 0.05 per month "BUY 1 UNIT FROM PARENT" to buy 1 unit from own country or enterprise stock, immediate, market price, 1 click only

If you look at the date of this post you'll see that this is an old topic of discussion. It has been brought up a few times, probably since the creation of corps that produce/demand fractional quantities.
For some reason the GM's haven't done anything about it. I'm not sure if there was ever an official response as to why.

In a recent post from Lord Mndz, he made the suggestion of corps being able to supply themselves from country stock.

I destroyed almost all of my corps that use/produce fractional amounts because they do require babysitting and decided the reward wasn't worth the time spent.

An option for you would be to sell full units to the corps until they reach a 120 month supply in stock and then you can leave them alone for a while. Keep an eye on your average supply quality, you will probably have to buy the rest of your supplies at 120 quality to keep a 215 average.
