Get rid of negative supply

It is hard to believe that we could have negative numbers of supply such as precision bombs or the like. So when I go to buy bombs, I have to buy 20k more because somehow I managed to use more than I had. This is particularly bothersome with supplies like Laser Guided Bombs that can't be produced everywhere. Unlike money, physical things should be limited to supply on hand.

you know the reason for it, well, in real life would you send your soldiers into battle with 5 bullets? because they'll probably die before they shoot 6? and the survivors can pick up whats left?

when they started negative supply, players would do things such as setting up interceptor wings with 2-3 rounds of shots, because they probably wouldn't survive longer. the GM felt that was unrealistic, and set a default level, and set the supply units to automatically pull the supplies up to a default level, creating negative supply

if you think that 20K pb is allot for negative supply, try 500K pb, 1.1M IM, 600K HM, 1M AAM, 700K DM, and 1.2M MI... all at the same time... i nearly went broke, thankfully the 800 pound gorilla with his missiles aimed at me, dealt with even worse

lol, i'm with you, but i also get the GMs point, it makes war more expensive, more specifically, it makes defense more expensive, and creates new tac

We see the shortages as a serious problem.
We cannot force anyone to purchase laser guided bombs, and we cannot be sure they have the money to pay for them, but having stealth fighters means you need them, and there is a maintenance use each month. Low, but continuous.

You cannot stop using them when at zero, because nobody will ever purchase them if maintenance becomes free and your stealth wings remain functional.

Having a negative number should mean that the stealth fighters should become unusable but that too, will not solve the problem.

We think that when the number of stealth bombs becomes negative, we should exchange, or force sell, one stealth fighter and deliver 50 or 60 bombs. The price is the same. No money transactions involved.

In this way, there will never be a negative number. If you never purchase them, the number of stealth fighters will decline in time, and when there are none, no laser guided bomb

Why not make them unusable as well as kick them into the reserves? At that point you can then make it so they cannot be pulled out of the reserve, until there is enough ammo in supply for however many months of upkeep that you might require. At least in the reserve, the expense and quality of the unit is not completely lost.
Dismantling units is a poor solution imop, it does not account for extended market shortages. A few units of ammo does not account for the quality unit most of us would lose in this solution.

Having ammunition of course solves the problem, but that does not mean RL won't call and pull people away for extended periods. Such people would return and see their hard work all undone with nothing to show for it. Units should not magically disappear because of ammo shortages.

We will add a notification to alert you to the shortage. This is by mail, in case you do not login frequently.

You can also have shortages in other products while away.
they reduce you supply index, followed by the welfare index and then the entire economy suffers dearly.

There is a minimal action needed to keep your assets alive.
