I noticed for navies there are Aircraft carriers, Helicopter Carriers, Guided Missle Frigates, Cruise Missle ships, Destroyers and Submarines. But no Battleship. The Battleship is the penultimate of war ships apart from the Aircraft Carrier. Most major fleets in fact if not all have them. Of course they would be more expensive to produce. Be a neat unit to have and add to one's navy.

I don't know of any country that currently uses battleships.

The U.S. still has 7 afloat however they are mothballed, or like the "Missouri" part of a display (which doesn't mean it's seaworthy).

With the advent of the new classes of stealth ships, coupled with current missile cruisers, I find it doubtful there would ever be a requirement calling for the return of battleships.

We can add more ships, and ammo but the question is beyond the name of the ship.

What will it add in terms of functionality we do not have now.
We could make changes to existing ships if we see possible new functionality that will add to the war game.

Battleships are from a different era.

Back when Navies formed a battle line to exchange broadsides or preferably "cross the T" with a hostile fleet at or just over the horizon, massive ships with the ability to handle massive armament were the way to go.

In today's world with the exception of aircraft carriers, size has no relation to how lethal they potentially happen to be. Their destructive potential to an enemy fleet or even shore targets is actually less than the much smaller ships of today and vulnerability is off the charts. There isn't much out there that can't sink one if they can get to it.

Without the support ships and aircraft pushing the launch envelope to 150-200 miles increasing time for defense, even aircraft carriers would be nothing more than a large target. You don't even have to sink it to put one out of the fight, just slow it down.

Any A.I.P submarine or aircraft that can get inside the support screen and your CVBG is most likely history.
