Increase amount of closures

Andy,

Would it be possible to up the numbers of corps a country can close per month. 3 corps per month was fine was corps where bigger. However, due to the GM shrinking them and encouraging more growth economically this number is outdated.

I'm not recommending a massive increase, but I think moving this number from 3 to 5 per month is much more suitable in terms of country sizes. Also I think it would be worth while for the GM to add a closure booster in addition to that upgrade. Maybe a booster that allows the country to close twice as many corps per month or something.

Just a thought, THANKS!

I agree with SS, the limitation of 3 could be completely removed for countries with game level 3 or higher, and at least increased for lower game levels.

I think most players log in to SC 1-2 times per day so it is extremely hard to switch country's production when countries have hundreds of corporations. It hurts enough when you have to make decision to close fully upgraded corporation due to market changes but to even technically close them is much more painful.

Flexible limits/no limits would allow players to switch among different corporations much more than today.

Lord Mndz, Andy, SuperSoldierRPC, Sheepman,

"Flexible limits/no limits would allow players to switch among different corporations much more than today."

I hadn't thought of this. The ability for larger players to close more corps per month, would help experienced players balance the markets.

I do think there still needs to be a limit for new players though. I'd say require game level 4. That way you make sure the player is reasonably experienced. While also providing a soft incentive to go premium. Free Players only have 20mil people max in their countries. So they don't really need to close more than 3 Corps a month.

Corporations did not become smaller except for defense related ones.

The limit is set because closing 3 corporations in a single game month, means that up to 800.000 people loose their jobs in a single month.
Including their families, this is up to 15.000.000 people that loose their income in a singe (real) day.
Doubling it will get us to max 30M.
This is in many cases more than the entire industry (48 corporations).
Not a great idea.

Also, there is a feature to change a corporation and make it produce a different product, keeping its upgraded level.

Closing was used many times to cause damage to a country.

I will however look into it and may make it dependent on the size of the population in the country.

Especially with corps building automatically despite having that function turned off in said country. I had upwards to 8 corps built in a short time that I did not want. I can only close 3...

You can close 3 every game month.

You should also increase the education index to >70 or automation will continue.

If you login to the country and your education index is >70, automation if off. (if turned off).

we are still waiting for an example showing that automation is on where you turned it off and above conditions do not exist.

Khome,

this is not what I am saying.

If the education system is in the gutter (index 70 and turn this trigger off.

In fact, this "easy mode" is now turned on manually by players who want their economy to run "OK" automatically.

Thank you Andy,

I think allowing 4 corporations per month would be a very welcome number. Also I would encourage the GM to add a booster that allows an additional 3 closures in a month. Id buy that booster

Right, from what I'm gathering from your statement, education indexs below 70 would trigger corps to build on their own . I do have all auto functions turned off, so it seem confusing as to why they still build on thier own despite the automatic function off. Am I understanding correctly?

Education index under 70 is considered quite disastrous.

Many times it goes together with shortages of workers and some professions and the economy declines.

so to prevent it, the automatic system will boost the economy and once education is >70, it will stop.

we could choose 60 or 80.
70 seemed like reasonable.

Education index <70 means that kids are not receiving even a basic level of education.
This is immoral.

Khome,

"I must be viewing this through an American lense" bahahaha, yes you can tell Andy is from Europe, "Education index <70 means that kids are not receiving even a basic level of education. This is immoral."

Full disclosure, I'm Australian, so I'm somewhere in-between. lol

More to the point though. Education indexes below 70 risk a downward spiral, where the country becomes unable to produce enough teachers and educated workers to sustain itself, risking irreversible collapse. So this is a safety feature to prevent nations from declining past the point of no return.

I wonder too.
either change what they produce or fix them. why closing?

a very low education index is a very big problem to fix.

it takes a very long time and we have seen that presidents give up.

from 70 up is also slow, but it is a chelenge, not a disaster.

Andy,

"either change what they produce or fix them. why closing?"

Well to be fair to them, Andy. Changing the production of a Corporation requires Gold Coins, which are pretty valuable. Closing and restarting with a new product, only requires SC$, which are much easier to earn.
