Can you make it possible to change product for mining corporations?

It won't be possible because they use limited natural resources now.

Lincoln Gas in country EU HQ SW on LU

Founded: June 10 4351

Natural Resources are running out. Corporation will close soon: May 10 4381

That is 30 game years - 60 days.

It takes 16,6 game years to fully upgrade.

13,4 game years left for 100% effectivity and quality.

Contracts?
Stock market?

Is there any good reason to build such a company now?

DARPA ZXY11,

They increased the amount that Mining Corporations produce per month. New deposits that get spawned are bigger, to match the increased rate of production. However, because of this, the resources that spawned before the production increases, now run out quicker than was originally intended.

I do agree that Mining Corporations could use a re-balance, to encourage players to build them. At the moment, their higher profitability per game month, only barely offsets the extra costs involved with having to rebuild them, each time they run out of resources.

Upgrading corporations fully, happens a lot faster than 16.6 game years :)

The first wave of natural resource corps randomly got assigned an amount. Some corps will close quicker than others.
Since the introduction we have increased the remaining supply of the first wave by a few percentage points.

New natural resource corps have significantly larger deposits than most of the first wave corps.
We also significantly broadened the possible price range for natural resources, which means they can potentially be much more profitable than other corps.

Would it be possible to allow non-full members to build resource corps?

I don't know how it is on other worlds, but LU has shortages in nearly every resource.

I understand that you need full members to continue developing this game, but I believe resource corps would let new players grow quicker, and they might stay longer due to that.

I'm afraid this isn't going to change. There has to be a tangible difference between free and premium membership.

Premium membership is not expensive :)

I think the difference is already very big and mining benefits are too small to change that.

Also this is causing problems for premiums as whole mining market has stopped existing.

Jonni Lord Mndz,

For the moment, adding more resource spawns would seem like a good compromise. People would still have to be premium to use them, and players would get more benefit from their premium status, because they'd have more resource deposits to use.

I understand it from a business perspective, you want to have a reason for people to spend money.

But from a players perspective, not having resources is causing strain on the economy. As of this comment, there is not a single resource on LU that has a surplus. Half of the deficits are in the billions. It's a little ridiculous to have to pay just to have access to a basic part of the economy like that.

We will shortly add resources in all countries.
Some C3 countries will reach very high numbers of available resources and these countries are easy to conquer.

premium members could build a very large number of mining corporations and make very large profits doing so and in the process, reduce the shortages.

also, we will reduce the shortages by adding some products but it will not reduce the price of the mining products.

Andy,

Excellent another resource spawn is great news. They need to happen regularly, to make up for the depleting resources.

Andy premium members can only conquer 25 C3s before maxing out their war level. What is the solution after that?

Daniel Iceling

Thursday, March 19, 2020 - 02:47 pm Click here to edit this post
Having Premium players take more countries isn't a sustainable solution. Empires can only be so big. We can't just take more countries, every time resources deplete.

While some resources will become available, when Free-to-Play Players go Premium, or when Premium Players expand. The majority of resources will have to come from new spawns, so that Premium players can keep producing, with their existing countries.

Over time, with more spawns, C3s will gradually increase the amount of resource deposits they have. Making it more likely people will want to take them. However, at the moment, the C3 with the most resources, on LU, only has 24 deposits. Before the update, my country had 26 mining Corporations, and I wasn't even specialized in mining, that was just the amount I had in order to maintain a diverse economy. People aren't going to take new countries, for the meager number of deposits currently available.

More resource spawns are the answer, both from the point of view of allowing Premium players to increase production, and from the point of view of motivating people to upgrade to premium or expand their empires.

W3c simply need to add function to search for resources in the country. Players could pay 50B or so for a single search and would be awarded(or not) with some spawn of resources in the country. Players would be allowed to search for resources once per game year.

You can take many C3 countries.
when resources are depleted you can let them go.
in addition you can conquer countries with a president.
probably not in large numbers except for FB.

enterprises can purchase natural resources corporations in many countries.

we have also reduced the price of purchasing a country.

you can easily find the countries that have a lot of natural resources.
some countries have a very large number and it will increase with every round of discovery.

if you conquer a small number of C3 countries with the best availability of natural resources, you will make a fortune although it will be a challenge to build all these corporations.

Andy, players are not looking for taking countries and leaving them only because few corporations cannot be built that would be so silly. Main asset in the game is population which allows you to build 10 times more corporations than mining ones.

Andy,

The C3 with the most resources on LU only has 24 deposits, that is not a lot of Corporations, for a premium player.

I agree that this system could work, once a lot more resource spawns take place. People might be willing to set up 'mining' countries by taking C3s, but not if they only have 24 deposits.

When is the next resource spawn scheduled to take place?

If we could declare on C3s at the war level 3 strength every time I would be more willing to grab resources. There is no way on earth I will declare at War Level 21 for mining corps. Sorry never going to happen.

Well yeah, there was just a resource spawn, lol.

Is there a schedule for the spawns yet? Or is it still arbitrary?

I did not see countries with many resources being taken quickly.
There are many there with a very large number of natural resources.

allowing free players to setup such corporations, will destroy the feature.
you can start an account, setup many natural resources corporations, close and start a new one.

The idea is that stable players will make an effort to control many such corporations and will make a large profit in the process.

A next natural resources discovery process will run in about a month.

Andy I'm not sure how you are not understanding this. Players will not conquer C3 countries for resources because the war level system makes every war increasingly difficult and expensive. For me to conquer WL21, I would have to spend nearly 20-30T in weapons/ammo. If you made it possible for players to declare war on War Level 3 countries at any time for resource raiding, it would become a viable option for players to acquire natural resources. I have mentioned this 1000 times already, I'm not sure how else I can explain it. If you allow WL3 declarations, you could have a system where you conquer a country, build all the mining corps, buy them with your CEO, then dump the country. Rinse and repeat.

Also, there are not enough active players to build enough resource corps to feed all of the C3 countries that are sucking up the majority of the resources. This is obvious.

Andy,

Thank you for the information, about the next discovery, coming in about a months time. I think more resource discoveries are critical, to balancing this feature long term.

32 deposits, is not a 'very large' number of resources, when you consider the time, and effort, it takes to set up a whole new country, just to extract them. And the fact that those deposits, will run out.

A premium player country has approx ~100,000,000 people, and around ~150 corporations. Having only 32 of those Corporations, be mining corporations, isn't worth taking, and setting up, a whole new country.

John,

I don't think you should do so.
I understand your difficulty while in war level 21 but then nobody else is.
Many others could and should do so while in lower war levels.
One country with 30 natural resources makes a difference.
also the purchase price for a country with 34 natural resources available, is not very high.

Your profitability is excellent anyway.
you also have the possibility to purchase natural resources corporations in many countries.
every CEO can do so.

Daniel,

32 natural resources corporations out of 150 corporations is a very large number.

There is no need for such huge numbers.

We will however consider adding a bit more product to the markets and reduce shortages a bit.

at the same time, the price could go up a bit too to make them even more profitable.

Andy,

if numbers of mining corporations will remain so low for a very long time maybe then it is worth replacing number of mining products used in other corporation to allow other production markets to grow. That would solve the problem of having too many mini markets which are very volatile and therefore not attractive for players.

Andy,

I agree, 32 Mining Corporations out of 150. If they were permanent, in a large number of countries, would far to many.

However, 32 mining corporations, that deplete after a couple of months. In only a handful of countries. While most nations on the planet, have 0 mining corporations. Is far too few.

The fact, that resources deplete. Means there has to be a LOT of them. To make taking a country worthwhile. Otherwise, it's a short term sugar-high, followed by closures, with no extra resources in the ground to mine, to replace the corporations that close.

The fact, that C3s, and Free-to-Play players, can't mine. Means that Premium-Players need to be able to mine, far more than they did before. In order to compensate, for the total lack of mining, in C3s, and Free-to-Play countries.

I think these two factors, are leading you to massively underestimate, how many deposits are actually required, to balance long term production, with consumption.

Sorry to say this but from w3c reactions I fail to see any long time strategy to fix this situation.

Idea is great but concept and vision is tragedy.

I will just ignore this feature completely until something reasonable happens.

Dear W3C - you can do better that this.

We agree that more is needed.

I wrote elsewhere on the forum that we will allow small CEOs (<100 corporations) to build natural resources corporations in countries where these resources are available.

we will also increase the amount of resource becoming available with every new natural resource corporation you build.
