Country relocation service

Hi,

I think it would be nice having country relocation service as currently players start playing in random places and would like to change that in the future based on strategy, allies etc.

It would be a very limited and costly like that:

• Country relocation would be possible once per year
• Relocation would cost 100-150 GCs per country
• Countries under war could not be relocated
• Country can be only relocated to a country without president

Relocation could also mean some damage to current infrastructure, but majority of things should be moved.

I think in technical terms this should not be difficult as every country has unique ID so this would simply be replacing one ID with another.

I like this idea, and the functionality already exists so this shouldn't be too difficult. I don't remember the exact date but maybe 2005/2006 we all had to transfer our countries to GR in order to avoid the monthly resets that were imposed on all other worlds.

Yea, I also remember that. Though that 3 month reset timer was something to remember as well : )

I just think this service would be a win-win for both players and W3C.

Maybe this could be even done among the worlds, so many new perspectives it would bring.

The 3 month reset is definitely not something to remember, let's not remind Andy about that...

I agree with this.

The idea is good but the consequences in term of implementation could be very complex. I will look into it.

Switching country is one thing, the corporations, orders, shares, feds, etc. is another.

We do want to transform into a situation where you choose your country when you start playing instead of an automatic choice the game makes for you.

thanks Andy, i think everything is based on country id, so i hope it is possible to override it with new one.

I am aware of each and every technical detail that is involved in such an operation.
There are hundreds of database tables in the Simcountry database, there are corporations and corporation numbers that include the country number, and much more complicated issues.

We will have to look into it and see what can be done.
I promise to get back here ASAP.
I do think that such a feature will be a great addition to Simcountry.
