Managing investment funds is a fun mechanic that is the only way to build wealth for your population. Unfortunately, it took me barely a month, and a country of less than 45 million people, to brush up against this cap. Please increase this cap for those of us that use, and enjoy, this aspect of the game.

I must agree, the mechanic is underrated by many players and the more I use it the more valuable it seems.

Ents are also capped at 500. When I questioned this Andy's reply was they didn't want one player to have too much control in the market.

I think a few changes could be made to the stock market.
Do away with the transaction limits, or at least make them all the same percentage.
Raise the percentage of shares owned to 40% for a corp to be a true public.
On an IPO have all corps go to what is now called 'true public', where you must sell 60%.
The min and max prices are not correctly shown.
Add a sell price to the IPO page.
On the shares page add the link for the P/E ratio graph next to it.
On the IPO page add the graphs for market value and P/E ratio.

Yeah, I am kind of okay with the cap on Enterprises. "Control" is the operative word. Enterprises can exert that kind of control by taking ownership. Investment funds can't control anything. I don't understand why the Investment Fund cap is substantially smaller than the Enterprise one for this reason.

I am also okay with where the truly public ownership is required to be. It has a great reward. It shouldn't be made easier.

Edit: This is a related suggestion. There is a cap, and probably will always be one of some kind. Let me destroy shares. This doesn't make sense on the surface, but sometimes failed corps end up on my investment list. Ownership stakes that might be worth less than $1B, and yet finding willing buyers is still an issue. I also can't close it because I don't control the corp. I'm stuck.

Let me destroy such shares, and free that spot on my investment list.

Another option instead of destroying stocks have an dump stock option. That would sell the shares in one game month or less at 50% or something. If no player bids one of the C3s can have it.

I will look at that limit and be back here to let you know ASAP.

Cool. I'm excited.

It probably should have already been higher, but it also would have made sense to raise it when the country population limit was raised. The limit makes it impossible for me to duplicate the wealth I am currently offering my now almost 50 million population as I gain citizens. I am already brushing up the cap in another country of less than 40 million.

Keep in mind, I was managing the funds with advanced knowledge that there was a cap, although I forgot exactly what it was, and I hit the limit anyway. Anyone I have given advice to on investment funds, it is one of the first things I point out, as it changes how you invest.

I am guessing it would be difficult to do, but the ideal thing would be to adjust the cap based on population. Something like 350 + 1 per million population. I say this not standing to currently benefit as much this way, as all my countries have less then 50 million pop.

If it is easiest to just chose a number, it would be annoying for it to be too low for high population countries. It doesn't seem unreasonable for a country with 600 million pop to manage up to 1000 investments, that, again, it can't control.

I will increase the number ASAP.
later, we will look into some formula that will depend on the size of the population.

I looked at this later, and my math should really converge. Should be 400 + 1 per million population, if we go that way, for a maximum of 1000 share holdings at 600 million, or a temporary manual cap close to that top amount.

For those unaware, the maximum an investment fund is even allowed to own of a given corp is 40%, and, again, can't exert any control over the corp. At 1000 share holdings, at most, the IF will, effectively, own the equivalent of 400 corps to reflect the collective wealth of 600 million population. This seems very reasonable, if the server would allow it, I would love to even see it higher.

Edit: Thinking about it, this leaves the investment fund cap effectively still less than the enterprise one, that can own up to 100% (though 100% would take it private again) of 500 corps. It makes so much sense.

The max number of corporations in an investment fund is increased from 350 to 500.

we will also look into making this number depend on the size of the population.

Thanks Andy. Awesome change. The 600 cap will keep me busy for a little while.

Oops, sorry
it is 500.

You are welcome anyway.

we will look at making the limit depend on the size of the population.

Been thinking about this. How about something like:

500 + 1 per 1 million population over 50 million ?

I think topping out at around 1000 share holdings, and for only the very largest countries, seems pretty fair still. The 40% limit for each share and not being able to control corps still makes it so country IFs don't step on the toes of what enterprises can do.

I estimate I am already at around 425/500 now, and will hit the new cap in less than 2 weeks. I am buying some population now, and I am just trying to keep population growth even with some level of worker wealth. Opening up a new investment opportunity for each new million population will help.

I discussed it here and we think that the recent increase probably resolved the problem for nearly everybody.

It is OK for now and we may revisit sometime in the future.
