Exphon | Tuesday, April 22, 2025 - 03:45 am I was thinking about the current general cost of government within the finance page could be reduced or completely eliminated and replaced with the infrastructure index and maintenance costs. Like how the transportation index includes roads, railways, and water treatment installations ( which isn't technically transportation and would be considered general infrastructure ). You could replace water treatment facilities with Bridges and Tunnels, Bridge Maintenance, Tunnel Maintenance. You would need very few miles/km of these with a higher cost per unit, similar to water treatment installations. The Infrastructure index could include the following as an example. Power distribution centers, waste management facilities, water treatment installations. With corresponding maintenance products for each. This index would effect the welfare index directly like transportation, health, education and employment. With 130 having the maximum beneficial effect on welfare and higher index levels needed to increase game levels. Just a thought that crossed my mind and I'm sure was thought of plenty of times before, it would be an interesting change/addition. With more potentially profitable government corporations to build. |
Andy | Saturday, April 26, 2025 - 12:17 pm The government cost is the overhead created by general government functions and includes also some infrastructure. The transportation index is OK except for the water component. we could change the names and shift some cost between the two. it will probably make it clearer for players and show more exactly what the money is used for. we have assets maintenance to cover the cost of maintaining the largest part of the infra structure. I am not sure that adding many more infrastructure products will be good. we are adding products that add new dimensions to Simcountry such as the electric cars and related products and wind energy. There are however many products that we could add that will make Simcountry more "realistic" in terms of covering more areas that are used in real life and are neglected in Simcountry. We have tried to cover as much as possible without making it too complex. |
Exphon | Saturday, April 26, 2025 - 08:32 pm Thank you for your response and insight Andy. I can see how this would complicate the game unnecessarily. I can see it would make more sense to add more products in the future for public and government spending rather than implement an entire new index to manage on top of that. |
Andy | Friday, May 2, 2025 - 10:13 am I agree that the current set of products and the indexing is not good enough. we are now busy with several features we promised before. I will however discuss this here and we might add some and mainly, regroup the products that are linked to each index. |
