Can you allow enterprises to buy corporations fully out even if there are shares on the market as it should be. Than make the buying process longer than buying a state corp and it has to be above the market price so that shareholders get more as it would be better for the compnay at that time.

The idea makes sense but is complex.

It means that there will be a process, hanging in there for a long time, slowly forcing the sale of all the shares.

As it is now, if you offer a high price for the shares, there is a high chance that the shares will be purchased. It may take some time, but as the price improves, the shares will be bought.

Andy, that use to be a feature in the game.

You could bid on a public Corp and force the sale of shares. Normally it would have been used when a player owned a minority share of something and refused to sell. The problem with it is it also forced majority holders to sell shares and while you could if you were quick enough remove the shares from the market forcing a hostile bidder to start over.

The simple fact is, IMHO if you are a majority holder and simply do not want to sell the shares, nobody should be able to make you.

Personally, I used the feature to deprive my enemies of their weapon corps. More to aggravate someone than for any real need for the ability to acquire a particular corporation.

@Yankee

The only way I know to do that now is to keep issuing stock to dilute their shares, and manipulate the price to do reverse share splits to reduce the actual number of shares that they own. I had to do this on one of my mining corps, but realized it just wasn't worth the effort to push his shares completely to 0.

That is the only way now. Years ago though, you could bid on a public corp and if you won the bid the shares were offered for sale automatically.

The only way to stop it then was to go in and remove the sale offer. Which since the timing for winning the bid and the end of investment fund buying was past that point you could actually catch it and stop the transfer.

The ability was there at one time, I can only assume it was removed due to players complaining. I know I rarely used it as it was probably intended.

Knowing how I used it and holding a lot of truly public corps, not sure if I'd care to see the feature return.

Agree 100% regarding returning of that feature.

Thanks for reminding me.
It was very long ago.

I also think that we should not enforce selling. offering a high price may convince some to sell but this is how far it should go.
