I agree with RADBSC, you pay for your membership, yet you have to pay more to get gold coins to use that membership. That is a little cheap. But, I guess until they get enough paying players they have to make money somehow...*sigh* However, something tells me they won't come as quick when they realize this. Oh well...

I can agree that the following might be a little vague. But it is your responsibility to know what you are getting into before doling out your cash. Asking other players or emailing the GMs before you enter your CC number should clear it up.
"90 days Full Membership plus 90 Gold Coins.
use to keep your empires and enterprises"

And besides...
90 days = 90 GCs = all extensions paid for
180 days = 210 GCs= all extensions paid for +30GCs
270 days = 360 GCs= all extensions paid for +90GCs
In effect, they do pay for your registration. You just have to click the button. If you plan on spending GCs to build your empire or expand into a CEO or use boosters, then once again, that is your choice and it is your responsibility to make those GCs back in order to pay for your registration/s.

i still think the game should be F2P cause if they put in ads that would allow for more cash flow and serriously as long as it is not popups no one rilly gives a shit (oh horrers you space in game is now like .7 inches smaller *gasp*)
and asside from that needign money is crap you have right here a highly detailed game that is fun when you get into but as soon as you join and go into the game screen it is EXECIVLY intimidating also mabye if you made stuff look better on the portal this gmae would not look so cheap and pepl (like my friend) would not be turned off as soon as they go on the site cause serriously this site looks like it jumped out of a MS-DOS

Actually, after you pay the money, you get x-amount of gold coins after paying the money. You can use those gold coins to extend your membership, buy boosters, or use them to bid on things in the cash market. If you choose to bid on things or buy boosters, a six-month membership won't be a six-month membership because you used those gold coins on other things. It's a monthly fee, just like a lot of online games. It comes out to only being about $4 a month if you use your coins wisely.

Unlike other online games, if you can level up and change your ranking, they give you free gold coins (that means free playing time or boosters). I don't see many online games doing that for its members.

If you feel intimidated, talk to long-playing members, as long as you're respectful to them, most will be happy to offer advice.

Is $3 a month really anything to cry about? Is $6? How about $9?

The Return is priceless, many LULZ.

Cough it up already, its well worth it.

Its a shame to see so many who want something and then someMOAR for nothing. Quite puzzling actually.

This is how I explain it to people. You pay for game membership and it includes GC which is used to pay for rent on each world.

Hey everyone,

First off, Simcountry is a fun game, and personally would not mind paying a little to play the game. However, this game is not worth $50 a year.

Ideas would be let people build freely in one world, keep them to 2 countries, unless they pay a one time gold coin payment for each additional country they control. Also keep the boosters for gold coins, and other benefits to intice people to buy gold coins. So let players play for free, then add benefits to those that pay for gold coins.

If there was a system like that I would use it, and recommend my friends to play this game. With the current system however, I have not recommened this game to anyone. Just thinking of paying $50 a year to continue to play, then If i stop paying all the effort put in will be worthless.

There is a text-based game i recently started playing, and already payed $13 in less than a month. I do not have to pay a monthly fee to play the money just went towards (boosters). Sorry for rambling on, but this game could make a lot of money if it followed the same system.

Thanks for reading, and sorry for the poor grammer (2:30am here).

i disagree , membership for most things do cost money every year , but this game might get more people to play for the fact that some people cant pay that money every year ,i say they should make it well you play for free forever , but members get a much more stuff to do and have , now that would be fair , but only have like a month to play thin they kick you out , is just wrong , on so many levels , also ate the point of giving coins out when you buy membership to spend them , its not right if you have it but it goes towards the membership , thin what is the money for if you can just buy coins with game money? i ask the maker that , it's like a scam if you ask me , but i think i will become a member for the only fact that i think this game will improve and i not want to loose all my hard work.

I will join the member world , but in that time it better improve ,

sorry for my typing , not very good at wording things.

Really, when I first joined SC I didn't quite get the system, but now I understand it and it is very, very simple.

You pay membership, tough luck. Most online games require such a payment, wooptido!

As for the GC, as far as I know, this is the only game that allows you to turn your Game Cash, into RL cash more or less (SC$ to GC) allowing you to buy more pop or perhaps more boosters to extend your countries.

It's a browser game, the most advanced browser game I have come across. However, it is still a browser game which like the rest of browser games difficult to take seriously let alone pay money for. Well, back to Norrath I go :P

Well I wouldn't say It is the most advanced browser game. Runescape is pretty advanced. Hell it is plenty advanced!

Well, what i find intriguing is that "cheap" is actually right from what Tiger said.
I know this actually seems to be any advanced MMOG when it comes to War, Presidents, Diplomacy, and etc.

W3C makes us pay after our Membership expires, which seems to be the most ridiculous bs ever, i think they need the money to pay for our gameplay however 12$ shouldn't be that much.

I am a returning vet trying to decide if this development is acceptable or not. They just sent me an email asking me back. Judging from the barren forums and how quickly my country is moving up compared to how it used to be I guess all the good players left like people have been saying. Guess they need new revenue streams so mass emails.

If you buy from the membership page that gives you say 3 months plus 30 gc, you're covered for 3 months plus can use the gc on population? Is that right or is there another cost? If there is I'm not playing this scam of a game; even with what I laid out I'm quite on the fence.

Bro above, runescape is the only browser game I've ever payed for membership...for a while. It was really well done for a little java applet. And if you stopped paying, at least you didn't have to start over! Seems that's how they keep you on the hook here, it's a bit unscrupulous IMO. Although they discouraged it I made some bread on my +100 lvl back when.

Anyway, being a polysci major I adore this game, but paying for it with such a dwindling community and new cruddy rules/"improvements" will be a tough pill to swallow.
