I think that the 3,000km depot range should be removed. In the real world countries such as the U.S. have remote bases in Asia, Africa, Europe, South America (all over the world) I do not see why this shouldnt be possible in simcountry. In addition, many of my fed members exist in regions that are 11000km away from me. In the past I have only been able to aid them in wars through my navy. Increasing the range of remote bases would help federations to interact more closely in addition it would increase the realism of the game.

The point of the range is to force you to build a logistical supply chain. The United States would have some difficulty getting supplies to Iraq without its outposts in Quatar, Kuwait, etc IRL. Rammstein AFB in Germany, in turn, is a stopover point. I don't think aircraft exist that can carry heavy equipment such as tanks clear across the world nonstop.

3000 km might be a bit too low, but I oppose removing the limit completely.

Well, you aren't allowed to make a supply chain in the game. You are only allowed to build depots 3,000km from a country that you own.
Enabling players to make a depot supply chain would also be a good fix to the problem.

Oh, you can't make a supply chain? Hmmm, I could see where that would make a problem...

I think that we should be able to at least do that, but I don't agree with lifting the range on individual depots.

There should be no range on depots Keith. The only thing that should have range are the air transport units, which is fine at 3000 km. This means that if you build a depot 6000 km away, you wont be able to resupply it without making a supply chain of depots. There is no reason for depots to have a range restriction. Only the planes that actually ship the supplies/units around should have it.

Having unlimited depot ranges and limited air transport ranges means the only way to calculate whether your air transports can make it to a depot out of range is to check all the other depots and run through the different paths to see if one works. Definitely not a workable concept if depots become popular (too much strain on the servers if depots become popular probably). A better idea would be to only be able to build depots within 3k miles of each other depot, then when you send air transport units it assumes it can make the depot jumps, so doesn't bother checking to confirm it can. The only problem would be setting up depots then demolishing them, in order to get around the 3k mile rule.

You can setup depots 3000 miles away, build up and create another one, another 3000 miles away.

If anyone is that far and has a problem, please let me know. I will check with the engineers here. It should work.

I addition, we will shortly add the capability to land forces anyway and build an airbase + depot. this again, can be used as a bridge head and more such landings can take place at a 3000 range form that base.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up for us Tom.

Tom one of my allies is 3400 km away from me, and I want to make a depot there. What I did was open a depot in another ally who is between both of us (roughly 1500 km away from each). Then when I tried to setup a depot in the nation 3400 km away, it said that I cant set it up because it is not within 3000 km of my nation. Hopping still doesnt work.
