Hi,

I recently (3 game months ago) bought popultaion, as I had a shortage of high tech seniors and engineers, and I thought this was preventing the hiring of citizens even in low tech industry.(Also for some reason my Milk industry immediately popped out with 102 tech, and required tech workers, which I did not want).

I have all upgrades turned off automatic.

Now I have plenty of every category of worker, and the corps are still not hiring.

All hiring is set at 100.

Country is New Illium on LU.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

B.

PS I also have a problem posted on the General section, that still has no answer regarding bids on corps, when a President arrives at mid-bid-process.

Are you sure that production and hiring are at 100? That's the only possible explanation I see. Your corps that aren't at full hiring say "Production was on target last month" which tends to indicate that it's running as it is set to.

BTW, I would strongly advise against building those food and agriculture corporations, they don't make profits.

I have always had my hire set to 100, always, and checked it again and again.

I built food and agriculture, because I didn't have the technical employee's, and some work was better than none for my population, at least in the beginning.

I also noticed that the lack of workers sign "went away" after the pop was there.

This month, finally, corps seem to have begun hiring, but it seems like it has taken 6 game months for it to happen, and there are still rampant unemployed and open jobs.

Seems to me, especially among the highly educated, that workers and corps would not let jobs with great salaries just sit unfilled.

P.S.

Thank you for taking the time to look, and for the response.

You have ample spare employees and hiring set, so they should start re-hiring. Your corps don't typically hire/lose more than 10% of their workforce per game month, so if you had several corps with very low hiring, it can take a few game months to get back to full hiring.

I'd also recommend holding back on further population purchases for a few days/weeks while you work on your education index. Your country can only produce so many high tech workers, especially with such a low educational index. I'd shoot for somewhere in the 160 - 200 range, but even 120 can be helpful compared to where your index is at now. When you purchase population, you get them in the same percentages that you have now (so if most of your workforce is LLW, and you buy 1M pop, most of that population will be LLW, too).

Thanks again for the response.

I believe my first purchase of population didn't go through, so I made several offers the next month to be sure I got at least one. As luck would have it, the majority came through.

Also, there was very high unemployment in my LLW's and such, and the "bottleneck" was high tech workers, so even the same proportion, at the time, was critically needed to get the corps up and running.

Building education takes time and money. It has been a priority, along with roads and rail. I realize some countries get grants of trillions of dollars, but I haven't quite figured out that money train ticket buying process yet. Any help would be appreciated. (Tounge - > Cheek)
