Some country controlled public corporation stock listings are not being displayed when navigating to the "buy shares" list. I have also noticed that IPO's made on certain game days are not listed and by the time the are, computer controlled investment funds have already purchased all the shares.

Observed on LU.

Case in point. I did an IPO over one game month ago and the stock is still not listed. When I checked the corp page for share holders, a computer managed inestment fund had already bought all the shares despite the fact the stock is not listed.

Anyone know what OLTP is and how it should be used? Or is this just another "realistic" part of the game? By the way, other stocks I should be able to purchase are also not listed, yet other companies in the same country are, and they are all country controlled public corps. I would say the game has a major problem handling transactional processes.

I agree, it is a problem, and has been for a long time.

However, sometimes a corp will not be listed in "trade shares," grouped by product, but WILL be listed in "the stock market," ordered by PE.

In addition, sometimes the PE will have updated on the corp's screen but not on the Share Market list, or vice versa, so they may not match exactly, so you think the corp is not listed but it really is.

And, what is OLTP?

Thanks for the info. The inconsistency of listing the stock in one place but not the other indicates a serious updating or query problem with the underlying database. The "trade shares" list is much more inconvenient to use than the grouped by product list. Does anyone really enjoy looking for a needle in a massive haystack when time is of the essence (or is it just me that objects)?

OLTP: On Line Transactional Processing. It's purpose is to maintain the accuracy and real-time value of information. It's a standard database implementation unless you are building a datamart.

I get those errors all the time.

I assumed it was because I actually owned all the shares but the server needs to update for the corps(s) to be moved to the private list. I also thought that might have meant that you already owned all the total shares that were available to be acquired. Probably wrong on both counts.

I've typically gotten that error when I plugged in a number that would make the total greater than 100%.

It's finicky.
