I'm conquering my second C3, and for the second time, I find myself resorting to destroying Counties, Factories and Forts to win this war. There's something seriously wrong with that. If my armies are rampaging across their lands, and all their major population centres are completely destroyed, I think the war should be over.

Yeah, i have since the first war, been needed to destroy almost all state corps and many of the forts. The pop centres + map paint only give about 60 reduction of the war-index. Maybe this is working as intended, but all "guides" seems to indicate otherwise.

The manner in which the War Index is calculated has changed. C3s used to have only 60 WI points . . . after painting the map and pummeling the Capital and Cities, there didn't used to be much standing in the way, a few points here and there. You'd just need to hit a few corps and towns to win.

Nowadays, there are 100 points. Forts used to be worth a solid .5 points and add .5 points to the WI. Now all of them combined are worth 50 points with each one taking up a fraction of the points (say you have 5 Forts, each is worth 10 points). Corps are now calculated differently, first all of them are now worth 20 points instead of the old 10. Second, it used to be that for a 10M pop C3, 10 corps each made up 1 point of the WI. If the C3 had 9 corps, it lost a point at the war's start. If it had 11 corps, the first corps' destruction didn't effect the WI as much (only through pop losses, not through the corp loss).

All of this put together means that there are 40 more WI points to get rid of. You need to destroy more of anything to win. Forts will drop the WI more than before. Corps will drop the WI more than before. However, there is simply 40 more points that make the war take more destruction.

Nowadays, I'd say that you need to hit the Capital, Corporations, Cities, Towns, Paint, and carve off about 1/3 of the Forts to win.

Which is absolutely ridiculous. If I've razed their cities to the ground and occupied every square inch of their country, I think I've won. I don't think I need to destroy any factories or forts to convince the population that the war is over.

This is an example of pansies, (I.E. Scarlet and others) crying for c3 war levels among other silly notions. I noticed a few times on this forum, "Be careful what you wish for" Then I saw why, many times after it. Weird how things work.

C3s only.

Wendy, I wasn't crying for C3 War Levels. Now that they're here, I'm dealing with it.

Oh but you were crying about c3 warfare along with the rest of these poptarts. C3 war levels were the solution to those cries and yours alike. Congrats. No need to re-write anything.

When aren't you on? I edited the second sentence before you posted.

Besides, you're assuming that I haven't started warming up to the changes. ;)

In taking a level 1 c3 today, had to kill most of the forts along w/ the capital, cities, and several factories of my choosing. Did not touch any towns or counties. Did paint about 2/3 of the country. Still a walk in the park, just need more ammo than before.

Yeah, ammo is expensive, as it should. You know, "We ought to have bullet-control..." ;)

I usually clear defence with expensive but cost effective missiles/bombs, but then goes over to cheaper ammo units for the actual demolition. I recommend you try out different tactics, its a fun additional objective for war ^^
