Andy,

On LU:

Yesterday I broke down 20 interceptor wings in the country of XBus, the quality was 400 equipment and ammo. The interceptors were not contaminated, the ammo was. I cannot vouch for the qual of ammo.

Transfered Int and ammo to space center at 400 qual on the Int.

Shuttled to Aoi Kirka, also LU and formed up 20 Int. Wings. Checking the wings after formation, but not on arrival, the qual was 350 for Int. and 347 for ammo.

This morning I did the same for a single wing, following qual every step of the way. Again nothing was contaminated.

At XBus, Int. were loaded into space center at qual 400, ammo at qual 353.
At Aoi Kirka, they unloaded at, Int. 350 and ammo at 350. They formed up at 350/350. So the qual change took place during space flight.

My questions given the discussion lately of an end to qual drop:

Does no drop in qual. only pertain to units formed and broken down in a single country?

If the above is true, what is the actual drop in qual for space transport?.. I saw a drop of 50 pts. for the Inter. and only a 3 pt. drop in ammo.

If I were transporting 270Q interc. would they arrive at 220 Q?

Rick,

I will have it checked first thing in the morning.

Quality does not drop when you move ammo around!

You should take into account the following cases:

The ammo you unload from the cargo shuttle is mixed with ammo already at the target and the quality is averaged. (weighted average).

If there was no ammo at all at the target, then the resulting quality should be the quality the products had on the shuttle.

Also, very serious:

Max quality on FB is higher than on the other worlds.
if you move ammo at FB max quality, it will drop when unloaded at one of the other worlds.

we will check the process to make sure.

Does the quality averaging take place as the ammo is unloaded into the space center or when transferred from the space center to the country stock? I.E. if 350 arrives at the space station which is empty, then does the ammo stay at 350 until it is moved to country where existing ammo may be of different quality, or does it get averaged there and then?

The second transfer I made, with the single wing.

I did follow quality at every step possible to try to determine where the qual change took place.

Interceptors and int ammmo were put in the space center at 400/353.

They were then transported to another LU country and unloaded at 350/350.

There was no contimanition or mixing. I checked country stock before unloading, they were 0/0.
After unloading space center the in country stock matched shuttle numbers.

I will try this a third time and let you know what happens.

I repeated this with the same results.

XBus to Aoi Kirka, both on LU. 260 int and 25000 ammo.

Interceptors/Ammo. Moved into space center XBus at 400/354Q.

Auto transported to Aoi Kirka.

Moved out of space center Aoi Kirka at 350/350Q.

Stock in country was 0/0. Not mixed.

50 point drop in Interceptors, 4 pt drop in ammo.

The excuse that it is the result of higher quality of FB especially doesn't make sense given that you can have 400 Quality units on LU. Not to mention that we're talking about it occurring with an LU to LU transfer.

Yes, FB isn't involved.

350Q seems to be a significant number though.

Is it the case that anything over 350Q is dropped to 350? Apparently, considering a 50pt and a 4pt drop, both to 350Q.

WE DID WANT, we wanted to say this, Gamemasters, if we buy weapons and all any and all things and we buy ammo at a particular type of quality for a mobile unit we expect that level of quality to stay as is! even more so if one has upgraded so called units....... if one transports it elsewhere to another world or space center the quality should stay period......the quality of mobile units should stay close as or decline or should be more slower than normal units, hence even more slower , as its takes a while for mobile units to get to a quality of 600 on FB and 450 or even lower else where on the other worlds!

Averaging takes place every time ammo or weapons or any other products mix.
if you have sugar, and you purchase more sugar for your country, your country has only "one sugar".

The old sugar is mixed with the new sugar and a new quality is computed. (weighted average).

same with weapons and ammo. when they are moved from one place to another and the new place already has the same type of ammo, they mix and there is a new quality.

nothing is lost.

Quantity1 * quality1 + quantity2 * quality2 = Qantity1+2 * new Quality.

I have been as clear as I possibly can be that there was no mixing involved.

I checked qual just before transferring into space center.

They loaded at 400/354.

They were transported to a country that had no stock of either item.

They unloaded at 350/350.

I've done this transfer three times. Same results each time. Qual drop to 350.

If it is not a problem just with my countries on LU, which I doubt, it should be able to be duplicated anywhere. At least on LU.

There's an easier way make your point in this case, Rick.

You, the Gamemaster, can replicate this case and report your results.
I'm sure any of these fine gentleman can supply you with above 350Q goods. Or you can cook them up.

By the way, there's a reason it is 350Q: it used to be the maximum quality. Still is. Try to buy something at 400Q.

I've been wondering why they haven't played it out.

Also, in "Trade,Order Strategies" you can't order anything over 300 Q??

See, there are at least 2 seperate issues. This is why I say we need a central 'bug' reporting system. How can the GM possibly keep track of these things when they are spread all over the place. Its a mess.

Good news perhaps.
Just auto transported 400Q between 2 countries on LU. Arrived and unpacked at 400Q, auto transported them back and unpacked them at 400Q.

Please mail us a specific case.
this should not happen.

The entire space part of Simcountry does not have any quality roof as quality cannot be upgraded and product quality does not decline.

I am not claiming that there could not be an error but I need to see an example.

Andy

I can't get any more specific than my Feb 1 and Feb 2 posts. I don't know what additional info you would want.

As I said in the above post, Feb 5, the drop in quality did not take place.

So this is a far as I'm going with the issue.

Thanks for the response. Appreciate you looking into it.
