Trouble upgrading my account

Does the service that this game uses to handle credit transactions work with gift cards? Whenever I try, I get an alert saying the transaction failed. I know the card has money on it, so I'm really confused as to what is happening.

I'm afraid our payment provider has had issues with pre-paid credit cards (gift cards) before.
In some cases you can link your pre-paid credit card to paypal and use it for simcountry that way.
