Saturday, August 5, 2017 - 01:35 pm  I have a public corporation with an excess amount of cash (RHG Computers AG on White Giant). I was hoping to release some of this by repurchasing shares of the corp in a share buy-back. This doesn't appear to be working. After issuing a request to repurchase shares, it gets listed as a share buying order for my enterprise, not for the corporation. Is this due to a bug?

| Sunday, August 6, 2017 - 02:45 am That has not worked since I wandered back several years ago. At first I thought it was because I was a free player, but it didn't work when I converted back to premium either. Sent a message, never heard anything, forgot about it.

| Monday, August 7, 2017 - 05:22 pm This problem has existed since the gamemasters cracked down on the Great Share Market Scam of 2012. A master manipulator of the share market,  , was earning trillions by bankrupting public corps. The corps were taking loans to repurchase their shares from the manipulator's CEO at inflated prices. The CEO profited from the credit of the corps. Our gamemasters, bless their hearts, dislike share market scams. They think it's lovely for simcountries to bomb the bejesus out of each other. But the gamemasters expect CEOs to be holy. And so, the gamemasters eliminated share repurchases. This was an over-correction to the share market scam. Since 2012, the Benevolent Fraternity of Simcountry Share Market Professionals™ has been campaigning for the reinstatement of share repurchases.

| Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - 08:32 am That's a terrible fix. Bare minimum, remove the 'repurchase shares' link rather than point it to the same destination as 'buy shares of this corporation'. A better fix would surely have been a 'net cash' limit on the ability to repurchase shares. This would fix the loophole whilst retaining the functionality for those of us who aren't committing fraud. I've partially addressed the issue by upping the profit transfer of this corp to 100%. I tried 150% but this, unsurprisingly, was prevented. At least it will stop the cash pile growing any further.

| Tuesday, August 8, 2017 - 01:14 pm True. I just tested. It is a long time ago, I was here but do not remember any specific change targeting this function or a reason for it. The share market was always the target of manipulation. Last week I finished another round of looking for weird cases and it resulted in several changes that will reduce the vulnerability of the market. This will be done later in August. I will also check the code to find comments about any change in repurchasing. If there was one, and the reason for it is resolved, we will repair. You should be able to try to purchase the shares and take the corporation out of the market. It is much more complex here than in the real world because here, you can easily sit on both sides.
