As I'm playing Peacefully, I'm trying to dismantle the military to save cash. So far it's largely been a great success however...

I have three remaining Garrisons I've set to dismantle, one in the Capital, one in the Offensive Military Base, and one in the Offensive Military Airport.

Despite having 6 Supply Units, 3 Large, and 3 Small, all well supplied, with nothing else to do. These units never seem to actually disband the final three Garrisons. My supply units simply sit there "idle".

Can someone Please look into this and tell me how to get those garrisons to finally disband, this is holding up my entire restructuring effort.

Does anyone have any suggestions or theories on how to fix this?... Andy?

Well, after working the problem for many hours. I've finally found a way to fix it.

Clicking on the "Army" drop down menu, selecting "Military Units", clicking "dismantle all units".

Using this function, I was finally able to get the garrisons to disband.

PS. Andy, Supply Units seem extremely glitchy at the moment. Often failing to keep units supplied properly, or adjust them to new load-out levels. I was able to get around this by disbanding everything. But players on the new War Competition world won't have that luxury.
I suggest that you look into streamlining Simcountry's supply system, before releasing a major war world. Otherwise, you might have many seriously frustrated players on your hands.
Until then, I'm sticking to the peaceful game. Simcountry is a great game, but the military supply system just has too many glitches to be fun to use atm.

Interesting reading.
you have solved the problem yourself.

I am not aware of a supply unit problem, otherwise we would have solved it.

If you have sufficient number of supply units and you have all the materials they supply and ammunition in the country, they should be OK.

Please let me know what exactly you have seen.

this is indeed important.

I hope you are aware f the workings of these supply units in peace time.

The supplies might be delivered (if available) automatically each game month.
We try to optimize and do not want to process the movements of many thousands supply units, once in a couple of seconds, in peace time.

Andy,

To clarify. The supply system seems to deliver supplies well, provided there are enough supply units, and supplies in stock.

My problem was related to Garrisons. When I ordered Garrisons to be deployed, Supply Units would do so properly.
However when I ordered them to be dismantled or downsized, sometimes the supply system would bug out, and never send a supply unit to dismantle the Garrison. This meant that the Weapons, Ammo, Soldiers, and Supplies in the Garrison, were in essence stranded, and could never be redeployed/reserved/sold.

I was able to get around this problem by manually telling the system to dismantle the entire Military. But having to do that each time a Garrison got stuck, would be awful.
If the same thing happens to regular units, I can simply disband that specific unit, and then reform it how I want. But there is no manual option to force individual Garrisons to disband or downsize, when supply units won't do it.

I agree that having supply units fully active in peacetime would place too much load on the system. However, if you have to be at war to reliably disband/downsize a Garrison, then the system isn't working as intended.
Even a simple "instant Dismantle" button, for each individual garrison, like the military units already have. Would enable a player to work around this problem easily.

This is the biggest problem I see in the game when it comes to supply units. You shouldn't need supply unit to dismantle Garrison's or let alone replenish any unit except for distant mobile depots. That's all it comes down to

Ron,

Yes. At this point, (out of)Supply Units, seem less like a quality feature, and more like a barrier between the player and their military. While the intention is to provide logistics gameplay, the result is an unnecessary wall preventing players from using the war features.
