HT services

Andy; look at the supply and demand chart on Kebir Blue for HT services. You will clearly see an upward trend in the supply difference. With the exception of the quick drops from large purchases the upward trend continues. I invite everyone to see for themselves.
So I'll just reduce my question to that; what is the cause of the gradual increase in high tech services on Kebir Blue for the observable length of time?

(I am not relating this question to corporations on hold) .

People could be bringing it from another world via space shuttle.

It could be transferred via direct trading, shuttles not required. But you're correct that a transfer could have been a possibility. However, the increase appears gradual rather than a product dump.

When a player stops playing, the game can sometimes start selling off their stockpiled assets, as part of the reset process.
Also when a country runs out of money, the game can sell assets as a method of returning the country to cash balance.

Perhaps someone left, or ran out of money, that had a huge amount of High Tech Services stocked up. So the game is now selling down that stockpile.

We had a similar problem on LU. When Aries left the game for a while, and the game sold off some of his assets to keep his countries from going broke. You just have to ride through it.

what you say is true but HT services is a very large product and a single event like this is not enough to disrupt the market.

We have seen several very large interventions by players who stocked up a product and then dumped it.
This can cause much larger effects.

From what is described here; as gradual increase of the shortage, it seems like a very stable situation where demand is larger that supply.
a situation like this, with no interventions, can do exactly that.
If the shortage per game month is increasing, this could also be caused by a shortage in one of the raw materials used in production.

this is then easy to fix.
Just build some HT services corporations, and look into the raw materials used.

No guarantee but:
1. HT services are very profitable
2. always in short supply. Except for some very short periods after large dumps, there has always been a shortage.

That is very true; HT Services are always in short supply (or high demand). Either way, the gradual increase in the difference between supply and demand, putting the supply in the green, has been going on for a while now. We are talking a couple weeks now, I can't look that far back to be sure. Andy, perhaps you would be able to verify for my curiosity?
There haven't been any large dumps of HT Services in the KB market from what I've seen, just random spikes of large purchases due to someone observing the low costs (probably just me). But the gradual increase in supply, or gradual decrease in demand, is out of character for a product such as HT Services which has always seen shortages.
But there is no increase in shortages, it appears to be gradual decreases in demand.

Strange spikes in demand indeed but this are well within the range of what one player could do.

The low price could trigger it.

There is no reason for a fundamental change.
check the number of corporations producing HT services.

The number of corporations being built appears static. Sometimes they build sometimes close. Not seeing a patter right off. However, the gradual incline has been ongoing for a while now. The price is stable for now, but that is only after the spikes in demand. Right after that, the supply/demand difference continues to climb up.

Are there less corps using HT services now?

Maybe total population declined a bit and with it the use of products.

We see the population problem now as more serious that we have thought of it before.
We will take more action to increase population levels.

The use of raw materials could follow.

What is strange is that I see the number of HT Service corporations increasing as well.

So the use of raw materials could include the use of HT Services? Maybe I didn't see the same effect on other products?

I noticed that several of the products that are 500M or more short in supply took significant jumps in the number of new corps being built. I don't think it is just High Tech that has grown in corp numbers. Perhaps the latest adjustments to birth/death/life expectancy is having some effect. I also noticed that my slave country has ordered 6 corps in the last RL day.....which is a good thing. Possibly boosted by these changes as well.

I believe it is due to a combination of changes. The AI was improved some time ago, making it better at opening Corporations producing products in short supply. Added to this, the most recent update made Effectivity Upgrades more powerful. Freeing up more workers to make new Corporations.

Put these two together, and we are likely to see more Corporations built, that produce goods that are in extreme shortage. Long term this will make the markets healthier and more dynamic.

Umm yeah, that is the problem. However, I'm not the one building more corporations. In fact, there have not been a huge influx of new corporations for HT services recently. However, the demands gradual decline is not making sense. The supply overall appears consistent, except for one influx of supply, then one large purchase. Otherwise, the supply and the number of corps all remain within normal parameters. The outlier is the demand, and it's systematic, and gradual decrease. Someone else please look at the graphs and just look at the demand first, you will see what I mean. The graphs for the supply, the difference and the number of corps don't explain it.
I'm trying my best to explain what is very obvious, but nobody else seems to be seeing what I'm seeing.....

Looking at the charts for LU, we have similar market situation for High Tech Services.

Part of what causes some confusion is the wording of "supply" and "demand". In reality it should probably be more along the lines of "for sale" and "requested".

Because of this, stable real "demand" can look like falling demand. Because the chart is only measuring unfilled requests. So if there is slight over production, then it can look like demand is falling, when in reality, it's just the unfilled orders being met.

What the charts indicate, at least on LU, is that there is a small amount of overproduction of High Tech Services at the moment. As soon as some Corps close, it will level out again.

The last point you made would explain what is happening on LU. But that does not explain it on KB since there isn't an increase in corps.
However one would define the charts, it is still causing the price to drop.
So since there isn't an increase of HT corps on KB how can this be explained

There isn't an increase in Corps on LU either. While the number of corps is a very important factor, it doesn't control the whole market situation.

There is productivity, and consumption to consider. A change in the balance of overall productivity, or the a change in the number and type of corps that use High Tech Services as an input, could all cause the imbalance.

Ultimately, it is probably a tiny change in the balance of production and consumption. It just adds up due to the unfilled orders being met, and production going on sale. Once the price drops enough, some corps should close, and balance should return.

The number of corporations is relevant but the average production level (shows on the utilization page) is more important.
there could be many corporations, but if some raw materials are short, they will produce at a low level.

Production level above 100% means either many corporations are highly upgraded, or, if volatile, someone is dumping products.

I was in the UK for several days.
Now back and I have the impression that markets are stabilizing.
more shortages and fewer surpluses. Surpluses are smaller.
