WG is now FLOODED with all sorts of products, all types that could be purchased on one world and easily transferred to another via direct trade, no shuttles needed. Construction, Services, HT, etc. This is out of control.

GM, you need to get a handle on this!!!! These products can't just formulate out of thin air. This far exceeds a product dump from a derelict country.

Yeah I have noticed that.
I agree we need more activity in drirect trade space market. Maybe if there is a shortage in one world and over supply in another we can get together and trade those somehow. I'd be open to that. I've got excess of a few things I can't get rid of on WG and I like Khome need this to stop

That's part of what's happening. It's flipping products back n forth between 5 different markets. It's akin to playing with stocks, pump and dump scheme's, etc.

I wish a GM would give some explanation of what is going on.

What I noticed on WG is there seems to be several factors involved.

Some products which are in shortage aren't being traded every month. There no sales for a month or two and then all the product gets sold in the next month. Multiply that by several thousand corps and you have a surplus. If you look at the supply graph that explains the sharp rise followed by a drop the following month. e.g. Construction

Some products have had a sharper increase in the number of new corps. e.g. Shuttle components

Some products are scripted into a cycle of surplus/demand. e.g. Gasoline

And some products seem to be created out of nowhere. e.g. Electricity

The way this is going it is becoming more frustrating every day. I have to build new corps to keep up with the population but I don't know if that product is going to be trash tomorrow.

Looking at the total world supply/demand it appears that the world cannot support itself. Instead of injections of products to keep the world running maybe the GM should look into reducing the number of products.

johnV,

I agree that there are to many product types. Products with large markets tend to be much more stable than ones with only a few dozen Corporations.

For instance, there are currently 23 different "Food" Corporations, and 9 different Agriculture Corporations. Most of which, have a very small number of Corporations, and relatively small demand.

This could easily be merged into "Grains", "Fruit & Veg", "Livestock Products", "textiles", and "edible Luxuries". This would cut down the food/agriculture Corps from 32 different products, down to 5. Dramatically reducing micromanagement, while also helping make each product market, larger and more stable.

Products like Services tend to be far more reliable, and far easier to manage. If retail, advertising, hair dressing, cafes, and tones of other things can be housed under "services" then there really isn't a need for 32 different types of "food".

The larger a product market is, the harder it will be for a single player to mess it up by placing a big buy/sell order. Reducing unnecessary product duplication, would go a long way to making the markets more reliable and easier to understand.

Additionally, mining could be consolidated into, "Fossil Fuels", "Industrial Metals", "Precious Metals", "Wood and Organic Materials" and "Uranium". Cutting 23 Products down to 5.

Since we now have "Asset Maintenance" Corps there is no need for separate Road, Train Track, and Water Maintenance Corps. Rolling those into the the Asset Maintenance system, could help to stabilise markets, and reduce product spam.

The silence and the lack of responses from the GMs is concerning...

About the types of products.
I had suggested before the Precious Metals as a way to get rid of Mercury. The production and usage of it makes no sense. Production is over 2000X that of Gold or Silver and FMU's use 400 a month while Jewelry uses 10 Gold.
The players that are active in the war game have suggested combining Off and Def weapons. It seems to me that a unit defending could have a bonus in defense with a greater bonus in home country. This I think would satisfy the need to reduce defense spending.
Do we really need 15 types of missile launchers and their ammo. Doesn't it depend on what you point it at make it that type.
The maintenance corps simulate deterioration and obsolescence. If a decay factor was added to product types there would be no need for them. Food would go bad fast while mined goods would last a long time. This could first be a loss in quality and when the quality falls below a certain level disintegration. Adding this would also deter players from hoarding and dumping, and lessen the effect of a closed account.
Strategic Weapons should only be on the market on FB. If a player on another world wants to go nuc then let them go to a Space Station. The GM has added that all countries use Strategic Weapons Maintenance to stimulate the strategic market. Andy has said that this is because a player or two, at some time in the past has wanted to buy nucs for PVP. I've been here for almost 2 years and haven't heard of a PVP war.
Like so many posts from so many players this will go unanswered by the GM

"Do we really need 15 types of missile launchers and their ammo. Doesn't it depend on what you point it at make it that type." - True that

"Like so many posts from so many players this will go unanswered by the GM"
- This leads to my concern that the game is close to ending... that's just a question from me.

JammieB - I had this issue for a while to, same conditions. Try to switch on "auto-build" for your corps. Not ideal, but it's just a temporary fix until the GM fixes this.

@JammieB

Also check and see if you have enough workers in each category. Less than 50% in any category will keep the corp from building.
