I have a weird scenario that I'm wondering someone can help me diagnose. My country lists "Severe Shortage" of materials and -2.33T in materials.

When I navigate to the trade screen, I have zero products in the red for my country. Not one. IE, if I use x amount of airforce maintenance each month, I have enough for this month and more in *every* product.

What is negative? What comprises 2.33t of negative materials?

Did you capture the country in question? I've had it take a real day or so to fully update recently captured countries.

Not a new country here, no. Thanks for asking the question - it was a good idea. Often construction etc. go WAY red after capturing countries.

I temporarily had airforce maintenance shortage, but it was for very very low value (IE like a couple billion in total value). I'm showing -2.33T SC$ for materials still with nothing at all in red. Even the newspaper shows nothing anymore (after a brief time showing "shortage of air force maintenance." I currently don't have an air force, so expenditure should be very minimal on that.

This is country in question: https://sim03.simcountry.com/cgi-bin/cgi2nova?SN_ADDRESS=wwwCountry&SN_METHOD=country&miBounceDoc=worldmap&miCountryName=charn

This appears resolved and is no longer displaying. I was confused as the text seemed significantly more alarming than any possible scenario I experienced.

Severe shortage:

Check the Trade page for outstanding orders for products that were not delivered.
also the supply index should be close to 100.
shortages of materials in the country cause the supply index to drop.

If your cash is low, (deel negative) or you have extremely high loans, the country might stop placing orders.

The message is alarming but shortages of materials are alarming too.

what I see here on the screen is fine.
cash is positive and the country is making a profit.

Thanks Andy.

I think I was surprised at the location of the message - as I recall seeing messages like this in the newspaper before. The shortage that caused the message maybe lasted one month and was for an extremely small shortage as discussed above.

Since I use auto-ordering, make profits, and ensure I have cash when I am active, the alert was a little confusing. The issue I believe is that the market is poorer now than in the past - and what I mean by that is there are many products where the shortage can mean there is about a real life week before orders are delivered. Even if your strategies are fine, you probably will dip into negatives regularly unless you manually increase stockpiles quite a bit.

There are huge shortages.

a bit less HUGE than two weeks ago and the tren is good.

the backlog of orders in many countries are smaller.

supplying corporations is essential.
on the corporations page, there is a tab for "Orders".

you can see all outstanding orders that limit corporate production and you can turn them, all at once, into immediate orders.

This will cost more but may help return all corporations into full production.
