James, how do you arrive at the conclusion that it is "an excuse to control others"?

Membership is voluntary and one of the benefits of membership is to receive military support, 100% military support in this case, in times of war from well established players such as Parsifal and Crafty as well as the other members who are at an appropriate war level to participate in war against other players. Therefore, it is fair that complete freedom should be curtailed in some form or another.

If you do not agree with this then please feel free to say why.

Incidentally, I post from an impartial standpoint. I never actually joined The Protectorate as I wished to stay free from Federations as an econ player and therefore in no position to aid fellow members in war, plus I have since left KB.

You're funny Josias god knows how this recruitment thread got derailed, probularly I had something to do with it. Also Vladimir maybe the results were not decisive but at least I won which I did'nt even expect, I was losing heavilly 2 - 6 from the start.

I gotta go with Josias about the polls. My long range siege gun poll won by a landslide but they threw it out anyway.

They already have Conventional Missile Batteries which can hit every location on the planet last I checked. There's no need for another one . . . and if it didn't fire missiles (MIB immune), then the weapon would be completely broken.

I was thinking more along the lines of big berthas. They were used extensively by Germany in WWI to shell French cities from 70 miles away. It wouldn't fire missiles, it would fire man-sized artillery shells out of a huge cannon, and it would only be able to aim at big targets like cities. There would be a difference between what I am describing and conventional missile batteries. Also, you couldn't attack defenses with it, you could only attack the targets themselves. And consider the range. A huge gun wouldn't have the range that a missile would have because there is a limit to how much powder you could pack into the shells. What is considered "long range" for artillery is considered "short range" for missiles. You could fire on a country that was maybe 3 countries away from you.

Amazing Conventional Missiles can hit anywhere but nuclear arms were unrealistically limited. Gaaah!
