Did you vote? (Kebir Blue)

Today is Veterans Day; a day that we hold up the sacrifices of our men and women who have fought and died to preserve our freedom. This is not just a day for U.S. citizens but for all those around the world who have sacrificed for freedom.

But in the last election only about 20% of those Americans under 30 voted. My question is why? So, my questions are these--if you voted why did you vote? And if you didn't, why not? And the last question is how do we get more young people interested in voting and becoming involved in their community?

I didn't vote because it's not real.

The democrats and republicans don't really oppose each other.

That means that we are finding out that the 'good guys' are wolves in sheeps clothing which makes them worse than the 'bad guys' who are just wolves.

In reality the same puppetiers control both parties and their power and reach aren't confined to conventional boarders.

If I vote it's just to f**k with their psychological profile of me. Because that's the only reason they want me to vote, to find out what I believe, find out what 'programming' I have.

Isn't it funny? they even openly call the programming "programs" for your TV... and nobody catches it, Amazing!

Yeah dude, sorry, I know it sucks but the whole world is deceived, You and I are no exception.

What's truely amazing is that I now see eye to eye with my former political opposite. Right wing conservative republican vs. left wing liberal democrat.

Interesting story how I lost touch with this guy I know(in person) and when after a couple of years we had both woken up and when we got together we agreed on everything yet we hadn't spoken. It's amazing, we went from tooth and nail to total agreement, it's pretty awesome actually.

So how could either of us vote? We see the smoke machine, we see the mirrors.

Right-left, conservative-liberal, democrat-republican, black-white... divide, divide, divide and then tell them they're a democracy instead of a republic. (it's how you bring down a great nation)

well, that's one/one on the voting issue.

i can understand your cynicism. i guess i look at things in terms of the small things in life that i can control. And even though most of the candidates are as you put it wolves or wolves i/s/c I think it's still important to vote. most of us are so isolated from each other. it's a way of connecting. we don't know our neighbor and just opt out of society. some of us connect through games like SC, or through blogs or chat, but we're still really isolated. how many people can we say we are truly close too. i'll be married 50 years on Dec.23 i've known her since she was 15. and yet, even after that long, she's still a mystery to me. and that's what makes it so great. there's more to learn about her. and i know that as long as we're together, i'll never learn it all. how many people can say that?

Honestly? I have thrown in the towl on fixing it or seeing it fixed. I honestly believe this is the big one, I don't see how it can't be, it is full blown eugenic fascism and it's global this time.

I am going to be in Washington DC for the 10th anniversary of 911 and hopefully NY where I hope to be chanting "End the Fed" in those tight city streets across from our national parasite the NY fed reserve. We'll see about NY, DC for sure.

Interesting things about DC...

I was there for the Independance Day fireworks. Yes the quiet black helicopters with tinted windows are real, they were everywhere. lol and the fireworks you watch on your TV over the Washington monument? It's funny that you mentioned voting on a veteran's day topic. I've often thought that military service should be a direct prerequisite for the right to vote. Then see how seriously voters take elections!

The thing with voting is that neither the Republicans or the Democrats are EVER going to listen to the younger generation (or any other minority voting group) until they see a reason to (by voting).

Most importantly for those people who don't like the Democrats or the Republicans...you need to vote for a 3rd party...any of them. Despite the fact that they continually lose...the more votes they get...the more the major parties pay attention to their issues (Green party or any other 3rd party).

It's really that simple...if you don't like something...vote against it!!! Vote, be counted, and be heard! Talk to any person in 3rd party politics and you will get an ear full about the importance of your vote.

Well just keep this in mind next time around (voting)...I understand your frustration with the system.

While I will agree that both sides of the coin are corrupted with power...I will say that the Democrats definitely pass legislation that is aimed to help the lower and middle classes while the Republicans are definitely geared towards helping the rich stay rich, which is eroding the middle class.

Either way...vote 3rd party if you're angry with the system...don't throw your vote away.

I've been reading about the tuition hikes in Britian that are causing large protest marches. In Texas we're not in as bad a shape as Britian but we've had very large increases too. Same in other states. If you think about it, much proposed changes in reducing the deficit will effect the young voter more than us old farts. They're not going to mess with my SS or Medicare or exemptions, but they sure as hell will screw with yours, if you're under 40. Why, because in developed countries including Britian and US young voters have fewer voters and vote less. In US it's about 20% vs 50%+. In Britian it's 50% vs 85% in favor of older voters. Hmmm...I wonder if there's some correlation?
