Shows, Sports, Vacation, Uranium.

These can be assigned to a planet. LU is the only one who makes uranium. Now to make Weapons Grade uranium or Pluto you have to ship it in if your White Giant.
Right there Nuclear power and Nukes materials need to be shipped in from else where(stimulating growth.
Golden Rainbow could make shows. Shows, Sports, Vacation instead of being normal consumer goods they become extras = increasing welfare and maybe increase birthrates or something.

Replace the game with an end user application that connects to the game server. That way you can add things like graphics and 3d animation without killing the servers.

Tried that, Can't get Sid to put his name on anything large scale, non PG rated that is persistant. ;)

Personally I'd like Sid's programmers to show up here. I'm sure they could add a few bells and whistles.

Also the boys from Paradox....though the paradox boys may make Simcountry too detailed and utimately unplayable....though I'm sure a few things from the Europa Universalis Engine could could be added.

Just set some things to auto, as long as auto isn't set to fail by defualt. We lack depth in games becuase folks think the complete idiot needs to play too.
