Change word Slave in Status of Empire

Can we change the word Slave to something else like say Colony. To me the word slave has certain connotations to it. So in an empire you would have the Leader country and a Colony or Colonies. This would be changed through out the game wherever the word slave occurs. Posting this also in Suggestion Forum page. Thanks.

I agree. I think Leader & Satellite States should be the terminology.

States, provinces, satellite states, or just dependencies, whatever. Anything other than "slave".

I sit on my front porch sipping mint juleps and watch my slave countries produce money for me.

It's the natural order of things.

I to would like to second this. It is a very small and easy to implement change. Please change it in something else.

OOOOOOOH, I know. Let's call them "Shoe" Countries, as they are accessories to or complement the Main. :P

As for the word, slave, it shouldn't be offensive to anyone in this game. It is what it is. In all the years that I played the game, not once did I put any negative connotation to countries being referred to as slaves. I think people get too sensitive or too easily offended or afraid of offending. It has nothing to do with racism in the context of Simcountry or anything negative. That is my opinion.

Only thing I ask, is do NOT call anything "Pods." lol

We're changing it with an upcoming update.
Colony has a similar (yet less extreme) connotation to it.
Shoes and Pods are out :P


Leader / Satellite States seems like the best option so far?

Leader and Satellite states definitely has more of a Cold War ring to it

For me "Colony" would be the natural choice.

I think either Territory or Protectorate would describe it better.

I've always thought slave wasn't the best choice of wording.

I always did thought the word slave was a weird name to use for any secondary countries you have in the game. However, I think the word territory is the best word to use as it sounds like its directly run by you. Other words such as colony or satellite states sound like they are run by someone else, like being a vassal state.

Yes hello Jan, The Wicked Lady, sorry I havnt been able to post in recent years due to real life circumstances as I have been far busy to even get the chance to play this game like I once did. However, I do maintain a presence on Fearless Blue by running an enterprise, and surprisingly it has been quite a success. If you ever threw shoes at me, I will throw them straight back at you haha. Anyway you take care too.

Andy, in my opinion, the word Satellite for a slave country would work if the country was run by another player, not the one who owns it. Maybe one day you could make this a feature for those players who wish to relinquish control of their slave countries over to be run by another player which could make the game more interesting for us.

I can however hardy imagine any real life circumstances that might be so important as to divert you away from Simcountry.

Of all the recent suggestions, satellite countries seems to fit best.
