Pros & Cons of Selling SimCountry

Pros & Cons

Tell us why you think so soldier. I'll probably agree. There would be many good and bad things.

If it was honestly the only way to fix SC then I would be all for it. Not that it would ever happen, SC is obviously someone's baby. (they are endeared to it)

Oh, and take your time Wendy, at your leisure. I'll be here, this week end is fine ;) & thank you. (no sprucing required BTW)

lol, ok. I've been half distracted lately.

Wow okay, new info...

If you delete your last country then your next one is free.

That's right I just walked on to LU without cost, accidently. I wanted to see what they would charge from that menu after I deleted on WG. I clicked and expected a confimation menu giving me the cost but it simply gave it to me. Apparently if you delete your last country you're good to go. Who knew?!

Wendy, would you like to sell for profit instead?

Okay GM, you're off the hook... for now. Though I will make you my circus midget if you don't fix what you know is wrong. There's whining and then there's broken.

SC has become a socialist regime which tries to create a leveling effect for all players but ends up hurting everyone and because it has taken out the challenge of its original intent which was to create wealth, and offer ways to be in relationship with other players primarily based on fear of losing to a rogue war lord.

there may be another factor at hand. the world of internet gaming has changed dramatically in the past five years and it may be that the SC concept no longer is competitive with other games. the social atmosphere and the technology may have passed up the SC game which would render it un-marketable.

ps--i'm leaving the game at the end of the month. anybody want to buy my account for $100. US. boy, i really gave the game good sales pitch didn't I. lol

lol.

More new info...

Enterprises on WG begin with $500B

Enterprises on LU begin with $1T

I wonder what the other 3 planets rest of Little Upsilon's moons are starting with.

What kind of population masses are we talkin' Parsifal?

...and why the hell are you abandoning us now?

Yeah, we need people like you to stay, and you just celebrated your B-Day with us. Now I feel like we are losing a Father in the game. Comon hang around with us!

Solomon, I am setting a country up for you now. What continent are you on Currently.

NO NO NO!

This isn't the "Pros & Cons of YOU selling SimCountry!"

I think you misunderstood.

Excellent.

SG--My main is Knights of the Round Table on KB with 70million pop. I have about 4000gc/s and about 130t in weapons. I've been in the game for four years at the end of the month and the game has become too socialistic. Very little challenges are left and there's little incentive to play. I appreciate a lot of the "remaining" players, but that's not enough to keep me involved.

Damnit!

Sorry gang.

I'm sorry too... I've been a bit hard on the Gamemasters. My 'in your face' approach is really only an attempt to shock you forward and I'm sorry.(please excuse the cattle prod)

We, the players, need you to finish what you start and realize that when something isn't working properly it needs immediate attention. Up to and including it's removal if it's intended purpose(s) isn't met.

When things get ignored(or even if it just looks that way) it gives the impression of a game owner who's out of touch, not interested or doesn't care. Not that they don't care or they aren't interested only that's the impression it leaves.

Since I have your attention will you please change the space graphic on the SimCountry Portal? Honestly? It looks bad. The ship looks like it's from the 1980's arcade game Asteroids. It gives a devalued impression of SC. Makes it look cheap. How about a still shot of a space shuttle launch or something?

Thank you for your patience and consideration.

(and don't think I wasn't serious about the circus midget thing!)

Thanks for the info Parsifal. The coins make me drool but KB is a bit out of my way. You know? how about leave of absence? You have a pile of gold there, sit on it for a year... two... pop back in, in say 8-10 months and see if our heads have exploded yet or what. Then if you decide to return you're not in my boat, starting from scratch.

SG- I've been downsizing for about 6months going from two CEO's to -0-, and ten countries to 4 and 8000gcs to 4000. So, i've been taking a very passive position and things have continued to deteriorate. I guess i'm spoiled from the old days when we could amass a lot of wealth with little effort. Now you can't amass a little wealth with a lot of effort. I was hoping the GM would make the C3 war effort more appealing but it seems to be a step backwards and towards more control. The new game rules make me see why Socialism makes economies so lethargic, stiffeling competition and creativity. Only the GM can tell whether the bottom line and internals are better, but from the looks of things by players it seems dramatically worse.

Maybe it's simply time for a new approach.

First, I know for a fact that our higest ranking players don't squeeze as much as they can out of their empires. I know this because I can still rank with them with 2/3 their population which means they could be setting things up better.

Yeah, I think the GMs may have spoiled us a little. 8K is a boat load of gold.

Look dude, this game is flexable. Change your approach. You've reached the penicle of your economic sucess so change your goal, break out and start something new.

The bottom line is that we're here to have fun. If building wealth is how you have fun, great! but when it wears off simply change your approach. It really is wide open.

"What are we going to do tonight Brain?"
"Same thing we do every night Pinky, try and take over the world!"

and how do you have fun? on SC that is. lol

Does my post sound like a stroke to you? It surely puts things into perspective.

When I started, there were only a couple of registered countries in my continent. There were far fewer players than today and membership wasn't mandatory. It survived well to 2008 and to this day.

This talk of selling the game was very common as well. Even so, as one can see today, nothing was achieved.

I've tried to help this game. But when my words fall on deaf ears, that's when I silence myself. Besides, whatever I may have to say now is in no way different from what I said last time. I'm not going to repeat myself just to be ignored. In the meantime, my efforts are better spent in civil society. It's easier to change the world for better than to change this game in any meaningful way.

Themes & roll paying.

Themes especially. One of the draw backs here is the lack of possible creativity. Post a pic or 2 and that's it. Most of our creativity is off site, that's a shame.

The church of sim country is a theme. New Little Upsilon Order was a theme. Not just a fed , a cultured theme. (even though NLUO was pretty crazy)

Over all our community has always been weak in this area but it really does generate alot of fun if you have creative friends.

(so did the crying little girl work on ya?)

Laguna,

Why don't you just go away.

I ask you this about one time each year and you don't go away and you keep coming every day.

The only things you have to say are not helping anyone.
"Put the war engine into the bin" is one of your famous contributions.
nobody even stops to react on it. you don't say anything positive, ever, and you never quit.

You are sure that you have all the wisdom so why don't you go away, and join Adam Velma and together, in 6 months, make a much better game.

you can't.
words only and worthless at that.

As I remember, your main income is interest on money you made in the past, before they plugged some loop holes.
I am sure nothing changed. You want to make the impression of a great player but subtract the interest and I am not sure you are doing that good at all.

I play many years, on and off, and although I see mistakes they make, the game is better now than before.

There are many who love it and many who do not a leave and there are some who obviously love it, but feel free to spread nonesense and never say a good word.
like you.
I see the game news, some good developments recently but no word form the wise forum members.
just crying and complaining on the one detail that they don't like or just following the crowed.
I am sure the game will be much better off without you.

Whew... wow...

Are we being a Negative Nelly Laguna? lol

I said I knew... meaning in advance. It's just you spoke up. I never thought for a minute that you'd come the forum and say:

"OMG!! NO! don't sell SC! I'm a moderator can't you see that?! I'm in with the big dogs... don't screw with the program! New owners might not give me attention!" LOL (I'm pokin fun at ya)

No, quite the contrary, I totally expected a well formulated argument to be posted about 20 minutes after the left side of your face started to sag.
