I was aware of this and NATA should not find it surprising that Russia has concerns. I would have thought the most prudent action was to ask Russia to join the project so that it may be protected also rather than having the largest country on Earth having a missile shield right next to it.
A responsible person is always advised to consider the repercussions of their actions before proposing them. I think the West often panders to nationalism and the right-wing press, rather than the many millions of people who are affected by our foreign policies.

The United States must have gotten wind of this a while ago. I'm Pretty sure that the announcement followed the actual implementation of the measures. I would also bet that has a mighty bit to do with all the sudden emergency broadcast testing being done in the last two weeks.
I wouldn't be surprised if we were at defcon x behind the scenes.
An interesting note, we found two Russian nuclear submarines off our east coast not too long ago.

Surely you must have heard all the commotion about Obama visiting Australia. Biggest load of hot-air from a man who can't even stay for 2 days... The new military bases to counter China. Pfft- I feel safer knowing more American troops will be there to witness the Chinese drop bombs on us then take our resources...
As with the Russian president, could this mean Modern Warfare 3 could come true???
I'm sure that its all a bunch of Russian political hot air...

Hi Dave. The Ruskies have said all along that they want a joint system but the Yankies say NO! The Yankies say its purpose is for defense #cough# even though if you press a button it will become offensive.

And now Pakistan has told the US to take its stuff out of the base there. 2 weeks notice! Guess they got fed up with the Americans accusing them of supporting Al-Queda and now dont fancy the Ruskies bashing them for supporting the US.
Time again for the US to stop thinking it is the worlds police force and has the right to be the moral compass for everyone. They're going to get everyone nuked this side of Florida (the atlantic) to Australia.

Yep, looks like it's back to the good old days of the Cold War. The Ruskies can always be counted on to rattle their saber at Europe, scaring them into demonstrating against the U.S. and her erstwhile allies.
There is something to be said for a more isolationist policy here in the U.S.; that would at the very least save us trillions of dollars in foreign aid given to people who'd just as soon see us wiped out.

The funny thing about this oncoming 'Cold War: Round Two' is that it isn't just the Soviet Union; its China, Iran, Pakistan and North Korea as well, which makes this much more concerning.
I agree with Crafty- America can no longer strut around the world saying its No. 1 because it isn't- it is well and truely on the decline. Education, drug cartels, drugs, unemployment, obseity, mass wealth imbalance... America faces ALOT of problems and it needs to sort itself out before telling anyone else what to do.
Back on topic, I see China and Iran to be the biggest threats today. Iran because of its (debated) nuclear weapons programme and China because of the South China Sea, Bejing's arrogance and their huge and expanding overseas propoganda service. Recently, I found a new Chinese News Channel on my Pay TV- I watched it for 5 minutes before switching it off. What a disgrace... The amount of poo being thrown at the We

I have no sympathy for the US.
Iran has every right to build nuclear weapons. It doesn't have to answer to the UN. Doesn't make them the bad guys at all.
But saying that, the US has every right to intervene also.
Lines like "Iran is supporting terrorism" or "They are an evil dictator so we must destroy them", "China must be evil cause they have a communist government" is what shits me. Dictatorships and communism isn't evil. The military, households/families, companies, sporting teams, democracy after election day, social clubs are (mostly) dictatorships.
Fact is the US is set on global domination. If anyone might pose a risk they mask intervention with false propaganda so everyone thinks it's justified and the man in the sky would give approval.
I guess most countries in that position would do the same. It's a big task to control the population. Just annoys m

I agree with most of what the Europeans/Aussies said above. The USA is playing the classic historical role of the empire-in-decline. The way things are going here the government (Democrats and/or Republicans, they are just two sides of the same coin after all) soon will not have time to worry too much about foreign policy, they will be too occupied trying to control civil unrest.

haha. Have any of you ever watched FOX News? I get it here in Australia and it is one of the most one-sided red-neck no-good excuses for a news network. American propoganda by the bucket-load. I prefer to decide for myself when it comes to politics rather than get it spoon fed to me by some guy rambling on about bears attacking humans.
Anyway, yes I agree with Kolenski and RagingPencil. America is going the way of the Romans. What irks me the most is when people say "God Bless America" or "God is on Our Side," as if everything they do is blessed and in the name of god... "America No.1" also makes me cringe- when you look at the facts, the US of A is beaten by almost every other developed country in every criteria- education, wealth equality, crime rates, illicit drug control...

Thank you Nix, absolutely.
If the USA and West didn't have nuclear capability, I'd broadly be in favour of hard action against those developing the capability to genuinely prevent mass death.
If Obama had the courage of his convictions he could bring the start of a new enlightenment to American politics but the anti-communist and capitalist freedom propaganda is hampering a more open-minded approach.
It is up to the people to spread the truth through debate such as this and across the internet, which will eventually reach out into mainstream society. The internet also brings us evidence from the ground of where problems occur.
