There is such an obvious abuse of the game, it is sickening. This game is a business and should be run as such. Although I realize that the GMs have other jobs, if you are charging people money for a service, then you better deliver the goods and manage your game well or you will lose business.
I have complained numerous times on chat antics, bashing, multi accounts, and yet the ones who are doing this are still in the game. Well for the third time, I am taking a break from this game due to the poor play antics of one player, WildEyes. She comes into chat under numerous names and bashes, which is disruptive to MY game and what I've paid to play. Just a week ago, I was in chat, she immediately starts in on calling me a fat whore....blah blah blah, because my fiance and game mate would not join her in the game.
The message to me over the last two years is all the same... "Fat....Ugly....Whore....Jealous." Doesn't tak
Oh........ yes, Wendy... the whole Xion federation on WG is full of multi players.....i like to refer to it as a 'mock' fed. It even housed the multi, ThorGross (coughs...aka Jess...coughs aka WildEyes...coughs), that I happily complained about and got banned from chat. :-)

While the abusive behaviour is ugly and destroys the game for all, it's not really against the rules in principle (yeah, foul language aimed at another, personal harassment, racism etc etc), its not multi-ing as this post is about. Xian star asked a very fair question, s/he didn't just go ahead and do it. Coming in chat under different names isnt multiplaying. Effecting the outcome of the game using anothers account is multi-ing. IMO anyway.
Another ORPG I have played before used a system where you could nominate 2 people as 'back-up buddies' who had limited access to each others accounts. ANY, repeat ANY infringement meant a COMPLETE block of any relations between the two accounts. Strictly enforced I might add, got caught by an honest mistake myself, no exception made. Just another idea is all.

I agree with craft ideal of the situation and to make a open verbal lash at my federation is indecent and given us the Title of a quote Unquote 'Mock' fed is very unappealing to me and others who see this a a insult to the federation as a whole.
Please keep the rude and insulting comments to a minimum we are a federation of players who play to serve the simcountry folk not here to be insulted and abused.

Xion, go ahead and do it, if you are doing it honestly. It's not against the rules and there's nothing wrong with two people genuinely living in the same house and each playing the game separately.
I have come across several couples and flatmates ingame who have done this. I have myself. My partner and I frequently disagreed on how to play the game, and neither of us would have let each other near our logon details, but at least we shared a common hobby. Better that than the many people who have told me they have to limit their play "so as not to upset the g/f".
Players living miles apart with different IPs have been known to share logon details so that they can fight each others' wars 24/7. Sharing an IP is not necessarily an indication of multiplaying or abuse of the game, and preventing shared IPs is certainly not the best way to root it out.

I think it is. Sharing IP's would likely be the leading indicator of multi-play. Case closed. Those of you who are saying otherwise have a pony in this race. It is the most pathetic excuse to say my friend/brother/wife or whomever wants to play from my computer, in my house in order to shield themselves from multi-playing rules. So I open a new account and say my husband wants to play, which is BS, but how in the hell is anyone going to check or prove that it is in fact two separate players playing.
Account sharing is in reality another of the clearest examples of multi-play. Watching/sharing/fighting/maintaining from any single account is a clear advantage to those who practice it. And a clear disadvantage to those who don't have a friend or don't willingly practice this behavior.
All this double standard concerning this subject gives rise to suspicion for

And don't even get me started on war levels and free accounts perpetuating and encouraging this atrocity.

I guess in conclusion my question is this, if these two examples are not multi-play, what is? <!-/Quote-!>
Inquiring minds want to know. No quick answers for that huh? I guess it speaks for itself then.

Several years ago, I played mine and majority played some of my RL friends' accounts until they were merged and they quit.
I've also given and been given access to online and RL friends' accounts to aid in wars.
I've had 2 RL friends play on computers in my flat while I'm on another playing.
I also gave my accounts away 2 years ago who ten passed it onto their brother.
I've bought accounts and stripped them.
All of the above in my opinion is within the spirit of the rules but would be hard to verify all of it.
I personally don't care what the rule is.
It was a case a few years ago that vets "needed" to multi in order to avoid some of the basing from the GM and maintain power or spy.
If the rule is removed then I wouldn't even consider playing a 2nd account as I have no intention of spending a silly amount of time or money in the game.

Here's what I recommend: avoid it as much as possible.

<!-Quote-!>Quote:The advantages to multi-ing are about the same as online fed/CM members working closely together and supporting each other.
If players want 2nd accounts, and contribute extra funds, I would say that is probably beneficial on the whole and needed for development.<!-/Quote-!>
Exactly, Paws. If people want to spend money playing another account. So be it. But it needs to become official so we can stop deciding who to punish and who not to punish.
Multiplaying shouldn't really hurt the game at all. It is negative when some people do it, yet others are afraid to do it if they felt the need because of a long standing rule that is unjustly enforced
