Well I had a great public education in which my high school had a grand graduation rate of 50%. I worked full time until I was 21 to pay for college upto my MBA (Masters in Business Administration), I continued my education further and obtained many things, PC Technician certificate, CCNA. Real Estate Liscense, and my CPA. In which I only recieved a couple Pell grants for but not until my last year. Sure I've used our system a little. Everyone has, everyone needs to, to gain the opportunities to succeed. But the issue here my friends is that opportunity doesn't equal financial gain, and financial gain doesn't equal happiness.

That is the real lesson in all of this. However Crafty I'd like to point out that you are wrong. Luxembourg, Qatar, and Malaysia off hand have higher income per capita then the states do. I presume the median is far less.

And speaking of pragmatism, remember that one system does not always work for every nation or culture. We in the west, particularly the US, have a more individualistic approach to things, and how we relate to each other. The wheat growing, protestant work ethic occidental world view. Go east, you will find our rice growing cultures had to live in more communal settings,which resulted in philosophies that promote not the individual but the betterment of the community.

well atleast our college education system is good its just most kids nowadays go get some bullshit major just to say they went to college

and I read a book on different education systems and it said in America with wheat growing and stuff the field has to lay fallow while in China the rice paddies grow more fertile with every planting and this led to people in America thinking that children needed long breaks to rest their minds saying to much education was dangerous while in China obviously the oppiosite is true very interesting stuff how something which seems so irrelevant actually seems to have such a large impact on societys

yes, the differences between east and west with the wheat and rice cultures is common in sociological studies. that was my major. there are basic conditions that will determine the characteristics of a culture, geography, demography, economics, and technology.

Multiple parties are dangerous. The problem is our voting system and the amount of uninformed voters until that is fixes then there is no way a strong 3rd or 4th party would be good.

I'm not saying the expression of different ideas aren't good, and I'm definetaly not saying that a 3rd party candidate wouldn't be better than the others. But if you look how close this election will be, and the fact that one state can change the outcome our election system is too fragile to allow, 1 person that was 60% of the people's 3rd choice (of the general) the ability to sabotage the country, yikes. Majoritarianism not present in a democracy? sounds good but a... Anywho it's dangerous. Unless we can have like a political tourney where you vote each candidate to the next round. But then people will be sabotaging other candidates not based on merit but danger to their candidate. Well I guess we have worse problems anyways, l
