Have you ever been to Jerusalem or Bethlehem ash?
To have spent 3 weeks there on a crusade for Mother Nature I became aware that the children of Jerusalem and Bethlehem live in constant fear of war and who live in destitute and poverty caused by an illegal occupation of their land.
I choose to highlight this point at Christmas as most cannot help but think of these places at this time. I hope they will put the illegal occupation of these lands in their thoughts while thinking of Christmas and why Jesus died.

What makes it "their" land? If you judge it by length of time a particular group occupied it the Jews have that by several thousand years. Conquest? That includes everyone from the ancient Assyrian empire to Rome to the United Kingdom. In legal terms possession is nine tenths of the law so it belongs to the Jews.

The only way to have peace is to accept the reality of the situation and find a way forward. It doesn't seem like the Arab world is willing to do that honestly.

Jerusalem has, over time, become in the possession by many peoples. Soo many have the right to claim Jerusalem as theirs if, the rule is, at one time Jerusalem was possessed by you.
But always remember brother that Abraham stole Jerusalem and the land from others. If one has the right to claim then so do many. But those who were born there have the only God given right to the land.

Isrealis and Palestinians who live there know that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel (West Jerusalem it is with about 700.000 Israelis, maybe 5% Arabs).
They don't need anyone to recognize the fact which is as old as the state. A country chooses its own capital and its none of anyone's business.

The Palestinians claim only East Jerusalem and why not.

But Arabs in Jerusalem do not want east Jerusalem to be the capital of Palestine. They want to stay in Israel and thousands are now asking for Israeli nationality.
They probably want to keep suffering instead of being free in Palestine.
Same with Israeli Arabs who are scared to death of the possibility that they will find themselves in Palestine as part of some land swap as some right wing party in Israel suggests.
