I stopped getting gifts, why? (Golden Rainbow)

I stopped getting gift's, why? I have read that some people found them annoying but I actually liked the money and weapons.

Because after a while you stop getting gifts. They're just supposed to help you get started

Look for a new player. Kill one of his slaves and then the gifts resume when you log into his country.... occasionally
