Shortage of Material (White Giant)

I am fucking sick and tired of seeing my factories with no materials.

Could the Simcountry gamemakers please add a feature for companies to maintain a minimum stock level. The same way this is offered for the consumption screen.

I don't care if I have to carry 24 months stock in inventory.

If this problem is not corrected, I'm going to leave this game!!!!

This is annoying me, as well. Every single day for the last two weeks or so, I have between 10 - 30 corps in my CEO with 0% production due to supplies. For some reason, some supplies just aren't auto-ordering.

I kinda Hate to pile on, but that has been causing me some problems from time to time, also.The latest victim was solidfuel rockets which got into the red, but then were unavailable by any means! But I think this will eventually "pass", and we will have a so much better result than inflating the supply instantly. Free market forces should take over soon, with just a little more tweaking, as it is called

I think we need the capability to have a different buying strategy for different commodities within a Corp.

I keep the occasionally hard to get commodities in stock in my CEOs and use the World Trade page to sell them to my corps.

I too have noticed that from time to time some commodities are just not ordered by the corps in some game months. It also looks like to me that the corps that produce these commodities just don't get processed by the server, so the corps that I own that produce the commodity also sell the item that month.

About a week ago on LU, I had several old corps that hadn't ordered chemicals and I also did not sell any chemicals either.

It wouldn't bother me if it was a supply issue (there's not enough Chemicals being produced, so my corps can't buy Chemicals as supplies). But in my case, most of the supplies are solidly in the green, yet my corps needing these supplies would rather sit there producing nothing than actually performing the auto-order.

heard of common markets and contracts? problem solved.

Yes, I've heard of both common markets and contracts, and that doesn't SOLVE the problem.

a) common market contracts have their own issues (especially when a corp doesn't produce in a given month so the contract self-modifies), and

b) that still doesn't fix the original problem with the default automatic ordering method.

The automatic ordering of supplies has been a growing issue lately. Several times a week, I find corps that are in shortage, and the commodities that they are not ordering is growing. It used to only be FMUs, now it includes computers, oil, aluminum, etc.

To pile onto this topic that's over 2 years old. As there is no solution given I thought I would bring this back up.

I've noticed that some corps have stock but not offered, when I try to offer the stock it doesn't allow me to put the offer up. So I sell the stock to my enterprise and then sell as needed either to corps directly or on the world market.

So what gives? Do some products only offer to sell during certain months or is there something else going on?

Yes I have common market contracts set up so I understand not being able to offer the full stock, so I do actually modify the stock offered so that there is still reserve for the contracts.

So then I sell to the enterprise and either sell to corporations or on the world market depending on how much is left.

Some products cannot be sold on the world, like plutonium, and that is why they stock on the corp. You can also have auto sell disabled, which will also lead to stocking up.

I don't have any plutonium corps. These are prodcuts such as cement and high tech services etc.

Can you give me some instructions on how to check the auto sell feature please?

Go to your country's corporation list, click automatic systems, scroll down to your corporation's settings and see if any corporation is unchecked on the Product Sales columns.

If that still isn't the issue, post your country's name and corp here, so I and others can check it out.

I think that might have done the trick. Thank you Laguna. I'll give it a game month or two to confirm but the one's I have been having issue with were unchecked and now have a check.

I had one ceo do that trick about a 2 real years ago. No company ordered anyting at all. And it wasn't the settings, although I did reclick on that to make sure. So I used the common market tactic by using only common market buying, not local, and eventually everything went back to normal. I still find the occasional contract that isn't nedded anymore ! But during that time I had set the quality of supplies all at the same for all companies. Try using slightly different quality for different corps to buy.

Voultaire, another thing to note when offering contracts for products your corps produce on the common market, your market commitment can exceed 100% by accidently confirming a % more than once with out first canceling the previous commitment.
