I don't know how others feel about this but I've always thought that countries taken over by empires basically become part of that country, rather than a seperate part of the empire or a colony.
I reckon the GMs shoud revolutionise the system so that a country overtaken basically becomes a state (like Texas is part of the USA) of the main country.
As for the Empire system, we don't have them any more in the 21st Century so I say scrap it. Also, there should be the option of Federal and State politics. For example, Transportation can be a federally administered department while Health and Education are State administered. That basically breaks down the barrier between different countries in empires so that large sections of society can be governed from one central organisation, thus making the system less complicated. Smaller and less important areas such as Water treatment and Employment, and maybe law enforcement, should remain

if you conquer another nation, it should make your country bigger. managing multiple countries just bit difficult to share resources, industries, etc..

Transportation does affect corporate welfare. And roads and railroads are fixed objects. How would they share the same index in different locations, especially if not adjacent? Hospitals and Education would be easier - with air transportation etc in place.

Or are you advocating a separate transportation index of some kind? Kind of like the difference between interstate highways and state highways in the US?

+1 I agree with your idea Tom, just so long as the countries are next door to each other we should be able to merge them together.

I am also in agreement, especially since I found out (I'm fairly new to the game) that when you attack a country, only the country that initiated the attack may be used and the rest of the "empire" just sits there.

To use Mr Morgan's example. If Mexico invaded Arizona, wouldn't the rest of the USA get involved?

I have more to add, but am very sleepy.
