I have to say that it is really not cool to target gay people as the brunt of a joke. To say there is a federation dedicated to gay people is fine and good but to make it clownish by pairing it with peacocks and robots is not. If this "federation" is truly interested in promoting tolerance instead of hate and derision, I think that Saber needs to rework this and show some respect. No one wants to go onto a forum that makes fun of them for something they have no control over.

Alex you are obviously getting a lot of traction off your "jokes" including digging up this old thread that deserved to be left buried. I don't care if you or whomever else doesn't like the fact that I am standing up for gays to not be the target of your jokes. Whether or not you know or are related to people who are gay, doesn't give you any right to target them for your own fun. Phillip if you re-read you'll see I said I get pissed when someone calls another retarded as my nephew has Austisim, which is a mental disorder and retard is a negative description of people with mental disorders. I am going to get tested for ADD (Attention deficit disorder) this summer as it is impossible for me to concentrate on anything for longer then a few seconds before anything (no matter how minor) distracts me.

I like this debate. The humor was about the absurdity of combining homosexuality, drunkenness, ninjas, etc. It wasn't about demeaning gay people. I'd have a problem with jokes motivated by hatred or filled with stereotypical assumptions, but that wasn't really happening here.

The bit about being a 'minority' is interesting too. The issue isn't just about numbers. Left-handed people are a minority, but jokes about left-handedness would not raise eyebrows.

That's because we're more concerned about minority groups with a history of oppression, who are or have been denied rights and privileges on account of some visible & immutable characteristic (i.e. race, gender, sexuality), and especially where the group is somehow politically disempowered.

It's not like all jokes relating to a minority group are off limits, but the fact that Chris Rock or George Carlin or whatever tell non-hat
