W3C - Workers Shortages

We see workers shortages in countries, mainly ones with a large population.
These shortages continue despite several updates that reduced the numbers of high level workers needed and increased hiring in other groups.

we have now made another change in an effort to create more balance in the employment.

This change will reduce employment in the medium and high level workers groups and will increase employment in the low level workers group.

The upgrade is already done on KB.
it will materialize on the other four worlds later today.

How do I increase the amount of low level workers my countries have? Is there a way to do this?

If I drop education priorities below a 120 total will less people be educated and more people go into the low level worker category?

@Ethelrel

The only way I know to make more Workers if there's a shortage is to go to the 'Change Profession' link in the Education tab and choose a profession to revert back to a worker.

Yes, if you set the total education weights to under 120 you won't train so many professionals. But that's not going to solve the Low-level Worker shortage by itself without causing additional problems.

I was constantly changing workers to high level workers. Now I'll be changing them to low level workers instead. How is this a fix. 80% of my gameplay is changing the professions of workers. I give up.

I can help you with Low level Workers if you're interested.. Probably got like 6M LLW on KB.. But this offer is open for Masaq Alone..
Also LLW I think have the Highest Percentage of workers Category on the employmemt page depending on your population. On one world currently I have like 24M unemployed LLW In a single country alone.. thanks for the Update Andy..

Thanks both of you but it's too much micro managing. It's has to be small increments because my populations are still very small. Twice a day each for 11 countries. I really can't be bothered.
If I could exchange workers for a couple of million llw and solve the problem in a couple of clicks that would be great but when your pop is 20ish million it's 10,000 here 20,000 there. It's loads of work.
Thanks anyway.

Shortage of low level workers will be a first.
we did not have that before.

Most countries will however have many unemployed llw.

Hopefully we will end with more balance than before and fewer manual interventions needed.

Im actually happy to send ethelred some millions of llw for free. No professionals in return needed. But I cant, because you have to balance value when exchanging workers. Not sure why. Probably anti misuse measure?

The balance is needed to prevent fraud.
it is unfortunate but happened much more in the past before we had such controls in place.

Maybe there should be added the possibility to set education priorities to workers as well so players can steer the amount of certain types of workers themselves. That would probably solve a lot too. I have no grasp how I can "change" my massive oversupply of llw into mlw or hlw, despite having education at 220. I cant push employment above 85 because of it.

So I dont believe the GMs observation on a macro scale about llw is incorrect. But when changing workers requirements at corporations it always causes damage to someone somewhere on microlevel. And if you have multiple countries in an empire, which you all have to manage manually, and with all those "per month limits", I can completely understand where Ethelred is coming from.

I can recall a recent change of low level managers not so long ago causing massive damage to multiple players as well. I know the intentions are good, and probably the underlying thought process

in majority of my countries there is a shortage of workers while i have tons of proffesionals trained. what i do is simply to reduce education priorities to 100 or even 90 and more workers are trained then. my countries have quite big education indexes, maybe training speed has increased for some groups?

Nothing is changed in training speed.

I had one country with more llws workers needed than available.
I lowered the education priority for several groups where there were large numbers of unemployed to zero and the number of llws is increasing quickly.

Our main problem remains:
there is a shortage of HLWs.

a small update today reduced the numbers of them needed in corporations.
we are probably close to a solution.

The shortage of HLWs caused employment to decline despite the availability of workers.

manual interventions were needed, several times a day to stop the decline.

I think we need to resolve this and reduce the need for manual interventions.

I have seen here several offers for millions of LLWs.
this means that there are large numbers available and offers to help.

Even a large shortage, translates immediately into smaller shortages in many corporations and the pr

I have tens of millions of LLW in surplus on FB and WG. Im short on MLW and HLW so reducing education priorities wont fix this because it is a mismatch of of workers in between groups, not a mismatch between workers and professionals. On WG with education index of 220. Didnt solve it. There is nothing I can do to this other than to drag this bag with me. I do not believe this is realistic or reasonable. That is also why i suggested to add the possibility to set education priorities to workers as well. Alternative in my case would be to add a game feature to execute llws.

If any of your professional groups has a large surplus, reducing education priorities for that group can help a bit.

which countries are these?
I would like to look into it.
we might learn something.

You can't reduce education priority for LLW, MLW and HLW.. these are not professionals... Introducing an alternative to change or move unprofessional workers would solve this thanks..

Giant Bananas on WG is worst. 31.4m llw unemployed of 44m unemployed total. And I have low tech and high tech corporations mixed. My point is not having the problem per se, but there is not much I can do to solve it, except High education, getting more professionals, and manually every month turn them into mlw/hlw 200k each month, but that is not doable.

Bananas grow too fast for game to react, for you 200k is nothing:) probably some proportion would make sense or adding education priorities on workers as well.

The education system takes LLWs and turns them into managers, engineers etc.

The number of unemployed LLWs declines.

if education priorities are down, a smaller number of LLWs is used.

in addition, every single game month, there is automatic movement of workers and professionals.
LLWs become MLWs and HLWs the numbers are in the hundreds of thousands.
and
If there are many unemployed in the other groups, some are changing back to become LLWs. Better find work anyway than sitting there as an unemployed manager.

so, if you reduce education priorities, the number of LLWs will increase.
If there is a general shortage of workers in the country, it may occur in smaller numbers or not at all.
This is generally because there are too many corporations.

It could well be that the numbers moving are not optimal, especially in large population countries.

I have built a country with a population of

I looked into Bananas Alma.

If you now build two corporations, there will be automatic monthly transfer of 170.000 to 200.000 LLWs into MLWs and of 100.000 LLWs into HLWs.

this will continue, each time when you build corporations and need the workers.

This is enough for 1-2 corporations per game month.
It is nearly as old as the game, the numbers were increased about a year ago.

You're right about the Later Andy... Been able to reduce the Amount of LLW from 24M to around 17M.. manually transfering around 400T LLW each game month to my other slave states.. there's also an automatic monthly transfer of 100T HLW in this Slave Countries(Farms) I manually transfer bk this HLW to my main... But what about the % in high populous Countries..? The Automatic Transfer of LLW to MLW and HLW?
A
Andy

All worlds
23 Jan 2022 16:08Link
The automatic transfer takes place each game month.
but there are other processes too, like aging etc.

It is not meant to be 100% predictable.

we could increase the max transfers a bit.

I am happy you reduced the problem but you should not have to do manual transfers so often.

The next upgrade will again reduce the numbers of HLWs needed in corporations.
at some point, it should become more balanced.
