You can still make masses of defensive units today, you just need more jeeps/staff to fill them with. The issue was never really 'how many 1 jeep units you can make', but rather 'how many one jeep units can you move around'.
I made a couple of mistakes in the ground battle that allowed treasurer to re-take some of the ground that I'd captured, but as it was my first ground battle (with the modern war engine) against a determined and skilled opponent, mistakes are par for the course.
The outcome might have been pivotal, its hard to tell - I think Barney was rumbling for a fight whether I won or lost against Treasurer (and it happened anyway), lasher and madhatter didn't attack in the end, despite building a presence near to my main cluster. I was quite prepared to duke it out with them as well though, I conceded the Treasurer battle because of Treasurer's actions alone.
