Andy, you obviously don't know your own governments set up all that well. Part of the constitution of the British commonwealth (of which Canada is a part), is that all member nations are required to fight for the sovereignity of the British crown if asked to.

Although we are a commonwealth now as opposed to an empire, The Queen is still classed as the head of state of almost a 3rd of our worlds countries. We had the worlds largest empire, but now we have the worlds largest commonwealth, all (at least in principle) ruled by Her Majesty The Queen. We may only be a small nation, but we built the worlds greatest ever

Face it, the British will have far too much on their hands with a war against the US to threaten Canada. Canada would stand to lose much more if they fought against the US. They'd probably stay neutral unless the purpose of the war was great enough.

That's my thoughts anyways. We'll probably never know.

Anyways, I thought the crown was more of a nominal ruler than an ultimate ruler. How far do her powers extend? Could she, say, end the war in Iraq if she wanted to?

Rules questions: once the war starts, can participants declare on any c3 in the region, or just those bordering the participant's or the side's countries? Seems to me if you could declare on any c3s it all comes down to who's quicker on the draw. Also, has it been decided what constitutes victory?

If Canada sides with the British, what about hockey? Hockey is a hard-core passion in Canada. What about the rival of the United States teams in the NHL. Go Detroit Red Wings! Do they play soccer on frozen ponds in Canada?

As far the war game goes, I've been scouting the region for a nice C3. I plan on playing on the North American side. It will be fun to launch thousands of missiles at Vali. It would be fun to launch some at Atilla because he's on the fence. Some not so friendly fire might curve over to Andy.

We have Ice Hockey over here too Dave. Our league is called the EHL (English Hockey League). OK, it's not as big over here as it is in North America, but teams such as Coventry Blaze (the biggest in EHL) regulary attract upto 30,000 spectators. My team, Telford Tigers on the other hand are lucky if they can muster 2,000.

We have quite a few ex NHL players over here now too, but it is a mostly amateur sport.

The Queen is actually Commander in Chief of all British and Commonwealth forces. If she ordered our troops to stand down, they would have to do as they were told. The commonwealth forces would also (at least in theory) have to aswell.

Anyone with any sense of history would agree that the UK would fight with USA and Canada against the EU :P

We need to sort the rules out before I do something that I should'nt.

I think that because the population will not be increased, there will already be a limit to how many weapons you can have. Meaning regardless to how many assets are in your country, if you hav'nt the man power, you ain't doing nothing with them.
I think it would be also too hard to up hold any other rules other than the ones below.

One country per person until its hammer time.
No population transfers.
No Strategic Weapons.
No other feds aloud on battlefield.
No navies?
Europe left. North America right.
The war should begin when each side has 3 countries out of war protection.
All non participants in Canis and the surrounding area are not to be bothered. Any fighter found bothering these leaders will have there country taken off them.
Any fighter found transfering population will face a warning and will be notified a

Thats what I'm saying, and if we get 25 fighters on each side, I think policing any rules, apart from the basics, would be imposible.
BorderC, I don't think Valis going to be around for a couple of days and by that time the war will be nearly upon us. If the basics arn't in place now, players might break the rules with out knowing it. Giving them an unfair advantage over players with similar countries.

I know everybody (especially nix) is anxious to get this competition on but I'm of the opinion we should wait a few days at least. People will be most available after Christmas. I suggest that we begin the war on Sunday, December 28 at 8pm GMT which would be Dec 28 2pm CST in the states. I'm not sure when that means we need to declare. Somebody will need to figure that out.
As for rules.
It will be up to each team's leader to inform and enforce the rules. Vali for the EU and me for NA.

- This is a friendly competition first. This is not a real war. We're doing this for fun and continental pride. Be sportsmanlike in your conduct.

- All European countries name must start with EU. All North American must start with NA. Even C3s that are captured. We have to be able to identify targets and innocents.

- Limit of one country in the region before WAR (not just decs) starts.

the 28th is a great start date! as for fleets i cant see why they cant be used if ya want them,they wont be to effective in the amount of time we have to build anyhow. Will 10GC (roughly 6 - 8 trillion) be enough to buy the weapons needed or population? I don;t know enough about these things. I figured we be spending more than that on ammo alone....

How will we be able to police the rule on no transfers of any kind from other countries?

I mean, say I transfer some weapons or swap some HTE for MLM, how will you be able to tell?
Especialy if we get 50 players playing?
