Moderator Elections Approaching?

I'll post my question again for those of us who were in the middle of this conversation...

So, what do you guys think about the term length? I'm thinking 1 year is too short and I'm wondering if 2 years would be too long. I'm leaning more in the direction of 2.
If you already commented and you were censored please take the time to post again. I, for one, am interested.


Please, watch the language, no smileys outside those offered in [formatting] or unnecessary characters of any kind. I would like to be able to have a functioning conversation.

i think six months would be good.

the reason for the shorter time is that:
1. moderators might get old on the job; other interests intervene.
2. players would have more input into moderators actions if the time was shorter.
3. moderators could run again.
4. it would make the players feel more involved in the game.

whatever might happen i think the moderators job should be passed around. the moderator has a great deal of power to censor anything they want without cause and to ban a player. it makes for an unhealthy game.

Hmm... Seems to me that the more the position gets passed around the less coveted it becomes, less desired. 6 months may be long enough though. It seems awful often.

I happen to think Laguna is fair. Everyone has moments from time to time. It would be hard to replace him with someone more fair or with the same overall quality. I'm not excusing anyone's gripes I'm just saying, if Laguna wasn't moderator, no doubt complaints would be more severe or skyrocket.

Voting could be manipulated. We all know there are multi accounts and who is to say how the vote could be fairly implemented? The integrity of the simvote would bring to question the results.

If a vote was agreed on, then one year seems fair. For another moderator, Laguna would have to remain as backup. His term of service now is not matched and I doubt many would have the integrity or commitment to do the job for as long as he has. Not barring the last complaint, I think if we vote for a moderator, it should be an interim moderator with the primary purpose of alleviating Laguna of the primary moderator role. Look over the last year of posts and judge how often a moderator has been needed. I just got back and have been going through posts, I can think of one time I noticed a moderator speak up and he posted "boarderline", you've seen it.

They aren't NEEDED all that often, especially since I'm allowed to post videos dropping the F bomb. (yet not discuss changing aspects of the game, and reasons are clear) so no, where does this idea that it's a good idea to keep... Look, you said integrity, right? Hey if you don't support choosing your own moderator that's cool... no reason to get hot under the collar.

You read what was censored, you know it doesn't matter if he's the best moderator in the world, keep electing him then, campaign for him. I already know that he could get me to vote for him if he had the right attitude, but that would never happen. I'm only one vote. There's nothing for Laguna to fear if he's all you claim.

It's not about Laguna, it's simply a better game if we get to have interactive elections and participate more. Simple as that, this just happened to have given birth to it that's all. I can agree that Laguna should have deleted every post he did and more, and this is still true.

However there does need to be some reaction to way things are being pursued. Now, I can believe that it's not as I beleive, that it's a popularity/attention issue, but that it may be an annoyance issue. Laguna doesn't like me 'hyper-posting' and dominating converastions. I can believe that THIS is why, but as of now I'm not leaning in that direction.

I jumped into a conversation in a thread Laguna started, you may remember, he posted something like "you're hijacking my thread solomon but whatever". I don't believe he was right but I chose to humble myself and appologize- which he ignored. This made me lose respect for him. I knew that if he could/would not accept an honest appology that he would not be able to ever give one either.

Everyone here Loves Laguna, that is a fact. If we think it would be beneficial for another moderator to be voted in to assist or sit in for Laguna when he isn't around, that is fair. SuperSoldier, stop talking to Solomon like a child. He's a grown man and the first time you posted was really really ignorant. Solomon has a RIGHT to voice any concern he wants regardless if we agree or not. He asked for a vote. Oh, you think keeping war information around for people to read is bad... don't bottle it up, say something! I bumped them only for a who's been fighting who, that's all.

The resurrected threads are all good history and a barrel of laughs. It was good reading all the old arguments and stuff. It made me realize how much I miss these people that were here when I started the game and how empty and void it is now. It also gives the present makeup of sim something to model on. Without conflict or anything like that, this game gets real boring. I won't even lie, I can get more satisfaction from playing any number of console or PC games. But this forum.... is PRICELESS. And that is why I pay that 48 bucks with a smile.
