And I agree wholeheartedly with Maclean and drys about the loss of our memory regarding the holocaust.... I remember our school had a holocaust survivor speaker and i was super excited but it ended up being terrible..... Completely scripted with the overarching lesson apparently being believe in yourself and you can survive the holocaust and oh yah I was ranked 10th in my graduating class.... Cliche and obnoxious.... And then the asinine questions from the audience.... Did you meet Anne frank? I did some research later on and the speaker was like 4 when she went through all this.... Obviously you remember the horridity but hardly old enough to understand what's going on enough to teach on it later.... Very disappointing experience

as far as the god thing, its this simple to me. whatever you have as the most supreme thing in your life is your god. if youre polytheistic then you can say many gods or many supreme things that can hold the same value, but still be something different. you can say you have no god all you want, but the term is as it is, what is most supreme = your god. 1 or a million. doesn't matter. I think it as a constant in the world vs the many inconsistent things. say that of course your god(s) can change over any period of time.

and of course you can disagree or agree, it makes no difference... since we can always find ways to agree with each other

it is actually the sphere of religion to say what is, and isn't moral, it largely based on your religion. true Christianity, is based on allowing other their view, but maintaining what god allows.

Christians face a double standard, no one can be perfect, but the expectancy of that is what brings you to salvation. no one can be perfect, its only the grace of god, that he doesn't just kill us. because he loves those that would choose him, in-spite of the difficulties, for this reason, their will always be difficulties. so the endevour to convert, points at the flaws that we all possess, to create mercy, when your on the short side, it seems hypocritical, its not until you except it, and respect Gods morality, that it makes sence, even thru your own flaws...

All you need to do is look through history or at the bitter preacher who thinks everyone who doesn't share his faith is immoral and by extension sub human.... It Is bigotry To think that morality comes from your faith and you do others and yourself a disservice.... Furthermore it is interesting to note that no one in America at least follows the morality of the bible and if they did they would certainly go to jail..... Philosophy is the study that deals with morality not religion which is too authoritarian and not science which has nothing to do with morality at all as per its methodology

Well the some extreme muslims link morality to their religion... It is ok to kill people in the name of Allah. And the Quran does state that people that don't believe in their god is something less to human... In Saudi Arabia there is a Highway to Mecca (Muslim-Only City) that says "Muslims Only" (http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/pCCnggr5jh8/hqdefault.jpg), outright segregation is something well practiced, as they cannot let the pagan lesser human enter their Holy City. (Morality??) But they decry the treatment they receive in Europe or even in Israel.

Turks that settle in Germany either assimilate, or have to go, there's a different story for every Euro country. I don't mind the muslims coming in for a better life, but I dislike them trying to impose their Islamic Law, like assaulting people in the street for not wearing the veil or for being Christian, or even spreading hate propaganda against certain groups for whatever irrational reason. Thank god Turks aren't at all like that though, they usually display their love for both Turkey and Germany. You can see that a lot in their neghbourhoods.

ok, try this on for size: We can all agree that everyone needs to stop killing the children, as per the original title of the thread. any country that puts its children in harm;s way by their policies, should be nuked until they change their methods. If they refuse to change, eventually they will cease to exist. Only a better, more enlightened government with more civilized policies will arise in these countries, thus ensuring the future of any future children. How about it, "the sacrifice of the present to ensure the future" ? I know some of the philosophers and students of ethics will see what i am saying. discussion, please...
