The original intent of the bans was to punish those that were using this forum as a soapbox to spew hate using ant-semitism, profane language, sexism, and racism for their transgressions and to protect the users of this forum from having to be exposed to such behaviors.

The fact remains that the banhammer is being called into battle much more frequently and for reasons other than it's original intent.
